Just like the typical flip flopping demomorons. Here is a program to promote education and you demomorons say it's bad for America. Demomorons state that they are for education when we all know the opposite is true.

While yer drooling in yer OLD MILWAUKEE, Stoney, another FIVE brave American boys were slaughtered by Butcher Bush today for absolutely 100% NOTHING...
While the Cowardly Coke-Head Cowboy mumbles that IRAQUIS are "thirsting for democracy..."
The truth is that the IRAQUIS ain't thirsting for democracy...they're "thirsting" for: ELECTRICITY!
They're thirsting for electricity so they can: PLUG IN THEIR POWER-DRILLS & DRILL EACH OTHER'S HEADS!
That vile & criminal oatmeal-for-brains warmonger you love so well has pi$$ed 300 BILLION DOLLARS out the window so far, enabling the IRAQUIS to wave their purple fingers at us & chop off each others' heads, after first having a BLACK&DECKER moment!
300 BILLION! That is BILLIONS not millions!
I pray that ole SATAN has reserved a really special little corner in HADES for Dumbo and his evil imps!

Yeah, and goats fly. Stone, you are utterly clueless aren't you?
I can't imagine a single American out there, whether Democrat, Republican, etc. that doesn't support education.
Now, where the actual difference is, is how you support education. I for one believe that we should have a public education system that is free through college or vocational schooling. I support measures conducted to track progress (somewhat like NCLB), but unlike Bush's NCLB, where there is a need for improvement, funding shouldn't be cut, but rather, alternative methods implemented to improve the education system in that area. NCLB is an unfunded mandate, requiring achievement levels based on Federal Guidelines that are often unattainable by too many schools because this program is not flexible based on the needs of the individual children or school districts.
People who wish to go to college or vocational school should have a free education, with of course certain achievement levels rewarding students with continued free education (example would be a free education for anyone who maintains a B average). I am more than willing to pay for an education system like this, as I believe it is in the best interest of America as a whole to have educated citizens so that this country can get back on track as the leader in innovation, technology, etc.
So, Stone... how do you think our education system should be handled?
You don't need to show your ignorance on NCLB, but I happen to agree there is need for improvement. First, funding isn't cut for schools that don't meet the requirments. What does happen is if a student wishes to change schools from a school that does not meet the goals to a school that does, then the failing school has to transfer their alotted funds to the new school. Basically, the funds follow the student. Personally I happen to agree with that part.
I don't agree with NCLB on how it is being instituted though. It requires all students to be at a certain level. Not just showing improvement. That includes title one kids, basically the kids that don't have the ability to learn at the pace of the rest of the kids. There does need to be an exception for those kids. Even better, change NCLB to a performance based for child and not as a group. Show improvement based upon individual progress and not group progress.
This will also help the advanced students where now they have to wait for the rest of the kids to move forward. They would be allowed to move forward ahead of the rest. This would be best for both worlds.
Do we need NCLB? Absolutely. Do we need to change from the present system. Again, absolutely.

I disagree to a point. The wealthy should not go for free. Also, drop outs should never, ever go for free.
The first thing that needs to happen if there is free college is get professors saleries under control. 3 million (on average) a year is too much. I can see 6 figures, but lower six figures. Also college coaches (football, basketball ect) don't need multi-million dollar contracts. Get rid of those, and then we can talk about a tax HIKE for college. Not until.

So which group do you fall into stoney - the wealthy or the dropouts.
INEVNT THE FUTURE! READ!
Bush must have taken his own advice when he was governor. He invented the future invasion of a country by reading. It is to bad that he only read the beginning of that book. He would have learned that there must be a plan in place after a country is invaded. I wonder if he invented the future by reading "MY PET GOAT".
Absolute faith has been shown, consistently, to breed intolerance. And intolerance, history teaches us, again and again, begets violence.

If the answers you get do not suit you, or if they frighten you, or if they anger you, it is your duty as a patriot to dissent. Freedom does not begin with blind acceptance and with a flag. Freedom begins when you say 'No.'

Why should the wealthy pay for a higher education in a public school, even a university?
A free education is not only a personal investment, but an investment into America's future.
A public college education should be free. If you want to pay for going to school at Notre Dame, or Miami (the thug school in Florida), or Harvard, then great... pay for it yourself.
There are plenty of fantastic public universities that have provided great education for the majority of college educated Americans.
And to answer your response regarding NCLB, the funds do leave the school. The problem with NCLB is that it is too one dimensional in its attempts to solve a problem. It doesn't focus on the needs on the micro scale of problems, but rather uses a "one size fits all" solution, which is inadequate on so many levels. There are so many variables that affect test scores and achievement levels, and oftentimes it has little to do with the actual school, their staff, and their resources.

Many people myself included never finished high school for many reasons. I got my Associates degree from a community college 20 years after I quit high school. Every semester I was on the Deans Honor list for academic achievement I had a 3.83 grade point average.
What does quiting high school have to do with aptitude?

Stone you are out of it. Only a few of the biggest programs in college sports do the coaches make big money. Why because those schools makes big money on their teams Stupid!!!!
Its like what the NEO-CONS say about personal choices one makes in life. Some people choose to work with their hands at a modest paying job and are content. Other people like big time college coaches choose to go after the big pressures of a high pressure high paying job like coaching at a big college program.
My kid coaches Lacrosse on a part time basis he runs shooting clinics. He chooses not to get caught up in the pressure of having a full time coaching job. He likes to coach 3 hours pick up 3 or 4 hundred dollars and walk away.
He also works full time for the State of Pennsylvania at a historic battle field state park and is talking about looking for a job with the democratic party on the state level soon. It must be nice to be turning 25yrs old in a couple months. One told me a senior staffer for Congressman Jack Murtha said the dems expect to be needing more help soon.
