Military Times Newspapers Call for Bush to Fire Donald Rumsfeld

Nov. 4 (Bloomberg) -- A group of military-targeted trade publications is calling on President George W. Bush to fire Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld, citing a lack of support from military leaders over the Iraq war.
``The time has come, Mr. President, to face the hard bruising truth,'' said an editorial appearing in the Nov. 13 issues of Gannett Co.'s weekly Military Times newspapers, which include the Army Times, Navy Times, Air Force Times and Marine Corps Times. ``Donald Rumsfeld must go.''
The editorial comes after Bush said Nov. 1 that he wants Rumsfeld to remain as his defense secretary through the remainder of his presidency. Military leaders recently began to publicly air their disagreements with Rumsfeld.
``Rumsfeld has lost credibility with the uniformed leadership, with the troops, with Congress and with the public at large,'' the newspapers said in the editorial, posted on their Web sites. ``His strategy has failed, and his ability to lead is compromised. And although the blame for our failures in Iraq rests with the secretary, it will be the troops who bear its brunt.''
Bush has ``made it clear that he wants the SecDef to serve out the rest of his term,'' Lieutenant Colonel Ellen Krenke, a Pentagon spokeswoman, said today.

It is nice to see the military is finally waking up to see what kind of incompetent fool Rumsfeld really is.

The mission put before them has been completed. According to the Bush Administration, they went into Iraq to secure WMDs. Obviously, none were found, and Hussein has been captured. Bush never had a strategy to secure the peace or an exit strategy, so obviously MISSION ACCOMPLISHED. It is time to bring our kids home. They served admirably, and I hold nothing against them for their service and dedication to America. I do have a problem however with those who put them there and the reasons for it. Even more shameful was George Bush having the nerve to utter "Bring it On" while hiding behind our troops. If he wanted to challenge the enemy, he should have been the one leading them into combat instead of cutting brush down in Crawford. Now that is a disgrace to our troops.

I'm SO glad that you and the other radical left supporters aren't able to do ANYTHING about our military actions since this president was FIRST elected....then RE-elected.
You want us to leave Iraq before our job is done. That included establishing a BRAND NEW government...run by the Iraqi people in a democratic manner.
THAT has NOT been accomplished. We're about 3/4 of the way there....but the job is NOT completed.
I understand that the thousands and thousands of Vietnamese that were SLAUGHTERED by the COMMUNISTS there.. after the radical left forced the US to ADMIT DEFEAT to the communists...didn't matter to you.
But it sure did to many American's. And it did to the VN people.
And the same thing would happen right now to the Iraqi people IF we do as your anti-war side calls to do. They'll be SLAUGHTERED also.
Many Americans are unhappy that the war has continued much longer than first expected. That's WAR. Not predictible...things change....but that doesn't mean that when things get tough...WE RUN with our tails between our legs. NO....tough/honorable people SEE IT THROUGH.
The Republicans and 1/2 of the dem party AREN'T QUITTERS, rusty. But I have known for years that your political supporters would NEVER put your life on the line for this Nation.....NEVER.

You might want to check what the Iraqi people think Americans and the 'democratic' government the Bush Administration is attempting to place there. Keep in mind, establishing an Iraqi government isn't about America, but rather Iraq.
