How far do you go? Do you do inside and out? Do you stick to one colour? Any tips? Etc., etc.

Tip one, if you haven't got them up yet..wait till next year.
All white lights on the outside of the house with candles in every window and lighted wreath on door.
Inside Tree is multi colored lights this year.
Candles in burgundy and Green and White around the house...

I'm a real minimalist. Lighted wreath near front door, some candles inside, small tabletop tree IF we have family coming for Christmas. Otherwise, we just smile a lot and enjoy our leisure time; we have a rule--no entertaining in the month of December. Sure simplifies life.
I can't believe the lengths some people go to, for a one-month light show. Getting gaudier by the year, too; surely the pendulum will swing back to a simpler time?

Small house and BIG tree and everything from Baby Jesus to Santa this year because some things were unpacked that hadn't seen the light of day for years and it was time to enjoy it all again. Colored lights, stockings on the fireplace and Old World Santas and Angels. Tree ornaments include a Barbie one, Snoopy, a Coke bear, a Hershey bear, an A & W Root Bear and lots of other fun ones with lots of beautiful glass ones of all kinds and colors. Lots of red this year ..... red plush cushions and red throws and red table cover. Maybe a decorator's nightmare but we love it and it feels really cozy and makes us happy. Oh ya, if I get more of a sugar high I might put up a lighted Christmas village scene yet.

With Christmas decor I'm more minimalist than Roadsmith! I'm married to Scrooge's brother so it's easier that way.

"yea but scrooge and his brother were Republicans".....
On the other hand, Scrooge and his brother may be the type of character that Republicans fear as they tout and embrace the festive figures of the holidays with hopes that they may benefit financially from the commercial aspect of Christmas. I'll bet they are not heard saying "bah humbug" as they count and carry their loot to the bank.
Besides, no matter what political party my husband may support, he knows that I am always right.
Have fun, Classic!

You drew that inference, Classic. I haven't stated here or anywhere else which party my husband supports. So, how could I "expect you to believe" something that has not been stated?
Frankly, I don't give a dam what you believe.
