I know that the president has been in Crawford TX, but you'd think he'd show up at the state funeral of a former Republican president. Many world leades were present, also. Are he and Cheney worried about being together somewhere and being killed?

I don't recall a state funeral in the past 40 years where the president and all the former living presidents weren't there.

Ditto for Condi Rice. Or was she in the throng?

Woodward has Ford on tape criticizing the handling of the war with some rather harsh words. Would that stop Bush from attending the ceremony?

Cindy Sheehan must have blockaded the Crawford ranch so Bush could not get out. Or did Bush not attend because we was afraid of the Y2K7 bug.

If Bush did not attend I think that is pretty disgraceful.

THREE DAY OLD NEWS....AP

President Bush will not attend weekend ceremonies including a Capitol Rotunda service, but he will return to Washington from his Texas ranch on Monday, pay respects to Ford while his remains lie in state at the Capitol, and speak Tuesday at services for Ford at the National Cathedral.

"While the democratic party complains about everything THIS President does to protect our Nation": "What would a Democrat president have done at that point?"

"Apparently, the answer is: Sit back and wait for the next terrorist attack."

Sigh--Do all Republicans have reading comprehension problems? I believe the OP was asking WHY the President was not at the services not IF he were there.

Maybe Candi Rice was doing the same thing she did during the flood in New Orleans buying 3,000 dollar shoes in Washington D.C.

Remember when Clinton was President, where ever he went people turned out by the tens of thousands to see him.

I am hoping after we get rid of Bushy we can restore some of the trust and goodwill around the World that Bushy and company destroyed.

Kraft, Bush was hiding with Laura and the dogs in an armored vehicle at his ranch because of the storm but didn't enter the actual shelter. Not sure if the vehicle drives right into the shelter or if he would have had to pop his body out into the great outdoors for a second or two to run in. Before that he was supposedly being macho clearing more brush while contemplating Saddam's death.

Happy New Year to you guys too! Whoopie here too!

deur1, I guess you failed to read my words... "Last I heard". Sorry to inform you that I don't keep track of your leader's moves daily and that was the last news I actually did hear.

Besides that it was written with a bit of humor and not meant to be taken seriously but I know the Bush supporters never see any humor when discussing him. lol

Peace!

Only a totally uninformed, brainless twit like you would blame Pres Bush (or anyone else in Texas) for taking shelter from the severe weather we had here last week.

Bear,

Is the weather you are talking about the same weather older Texas people haven't seen in December for over 50 years? I am wondering if your unusual weather has anything to do with the 42 square mile piece of ice that just broke off the northern ice cap? Most experts on the World's weather say its Global warming.

Maybe if Bushy spent less time at the ranch he could deal with his problems faster. Every day Bushy stalls about his mess in Iraq fine young Americans DIE.

The times and weather are changing for Bushy. I am wondering when the criminal investigations will start about Bushy before or after he leaves office?

Nope....we'll be staying as long as your GUTLESS new congress don't have the NERVE to stop funding the war.

IF they do...then it will be on their heads.

But knowing they didn't have the COURAGE of their convictions before to vote to get our troops out of Iraq...I seriously doubt they will now.

Your 'leaders' aren't going to do what YOU want them to do. THEY know better.

So, if they continue to fund the war they are gutless and if they don't continue to fund the war then "it" will be on their heads. Geez, sometimes you just can't win. How about letting "my" new congrees take office first.

Makes you wonder what Bush would do if he got a "Daily Brief" that read "Killer Tornadoes determined to strike Central Texas".

We all know what happened the last time Bush ignore a potential threat.

Kiars, this one time only you are excused. We dont take tornado warnings lightly down here.

Is the weather you are talking about the same weather older Texas people haven't seen in December for over 50 years?

What weather are you "thinking" of? Weather here is TYPICAL December weather except for the hot air blowing down from PA. I've seen over 50 Decembers here and nothing abnormal about this one.

And are you rerering to the chunk of ice that broke free from Canada that happened 16 months ago and they only missed it last week? If thats the one you are refering to, you cant blame current claims of global warming on an event that occured over a year ago. Personally I cant see the ado about a ice shelf that was suspected of being 3000 years old (almost as old as some of the demoncrats crying over it) and floating in the sea and attached to a land mass on only one end.

Bear, I certainly wasn't making light of the tornado as I realize the damage they can do. There have been some bad storms in B.C. lately and huge trees have come down through some houses on the lower mainland and Vancouver Island.

Stanley Park is a beautiful nature park of about 1000 acres in Vancouver near the downtown area and a couple of weeks ago a storm decimated much of the park, taking down about 3000 trees, some of them about 200 years old. It will never be the same again.
