DETROIT (AP) -- A Muslim leader from Ohio who was convicted of lying about his involvement with a group the U.S. government designated a terrorist organization has been deported to his native Palestinian territories, immigration authorities said yesterday.
Fawaz Damra, 46, was convicted in June 2004 of concealing his ties to Palestinian Islamic Jihad when he applied for U.S. citizenship in 1994.
Damra, who served as an imam at Ohio's largest mosque, the Islamic Center of Cleveland, was deported Thursday, said Tim Counts, spokesman for the Bureau of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). He was flown to Amman, Jordan, then crossed to the West Bank.
A message seeking comment from his attorney, Michael Birach, was not immediately returned.
Damra, who emigrated to the United States in the mid-1980s, is married with three U.S.-born children.
In Ohio, he had become involved in interfaith activities, particularly after the September 11, 2001, attacks. But soon afterward, a tape of a 1991 speech in Chicago became public in which Damra said Muslims should be "directing all the rifles at the first and last enemy of the Islamic nation and that is the sons of monkeys and pigs, the Jews."
Damra apologized, saying he had made the remarks before he had any interaction with Christians and Jews.
At his 2004 trial, prosecutors showed video footage of him and other Muslim leaders raising money for an arm of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad. The State Department had placed the group on its list of terrorist organizations in 1989.
Damra had been the imam of a Brooklyn, N.Y., mosque in the mid-1980s that became a focus of fundraising for anti-Soviet forces in Afghanistan. His replacement there, Omar Abdel-Rahman, was convicted in a 1995 foiled plot to blow up New York City landmarks.

So I see no one want to discuss that a muslim imam was most likely teaching his anti-American hatred to other muslims living in America. Rather just deny it happened? And is most likely happening in OTHER muslim mosques across America.

Suspicious truck stopped at the Port of Miami-Dade
Federal and county authorities have arrested as many as three Middle Eastern men at the Port of Miami-Dade after they tried to enter the facility Sunday morning without proper paperwork, officials said.
An FBI spokeswoman in Miami said an Iraqi semi-truck driver trying to get into the port was been arrested after the cargo in his truck did not match what was declared on the truck's manifest.
A second Iraqi national and third Lebanese national were found hiding inside the truck, the official said.
''Right now, we're trying to figure out what these men were trying to do,'' said Judy Orihuela, the FBI spokeswoman. A press conference will be held later today.
She said the incident began when the Iraqi driver tried to make a delivery at the port and was told he needed a day pass.
During the questioning,
inconsistencies surfaced as to the cargo. The two men hiding were found during a search of the truck, she said.
The incident prompted a shut-down of the port as members of several federal, local and state law enforcement agencies converged on the busy facility. Among the agencies responding was the Center for Domestic Preparedness, an agency that deals with suspected weapons of mass destruction.
Orihuela said the men appear to be in the U.S. legally and have resident status. They are not on any watch list.
Authorities in Washington, D.C. have been notified of the incident, Orihuela said.

The thing that troubles me, irked, is that there are so many liberals who are so protective of their rights....the rights of those who work to destroy us.
And I've read article after article about arrests just like this one, where the suspected terrorists have been located and arrested....and yet the liberals claim Bush has done nothing to prevent terrorist attacks.
And even more than that....they say they want to CHANGE the laws [The Patriot Act, The Home Land Security laws] that this President HAS used and caught these terrorists by USING.
It's like they just can't see the threat....it's all a political issue to them...rather than opening their eyes to WHO IS enabling these muslims to continue on, PROTECTED, to do what they wish.
It just makes NO sense to me. And is the major reason I would NEVER support a dem CIC. NEVER.

DUH.....I believe it was linduh who was screaming about "innocent until proven guilty" !!!????
Yes, linduh, I believe even the guilty have rights but the INNOCENT have rights... this is AMERICA ????? Remember?
We have that pesky constitution thingy...you know, what bushy refers to as that %^#&^%*#@! piece of paper.
A person should not be arrested or investigated simply because of their religion, skin color or length of their beard...

What you have never 'gotten' mingo...is I'm talking about NOT tying our investigative agencies hands behind their backs and THEN expecting them to protect us from all of these suspected TERRORISTS who HAVE been making plans HERE in America.
I fully support their right to a fair trial. I fully susport them being EXECUTED when they are found to be TRAITORS to this nation also.....especially WHEN they have become CITIZENS of our Nation under TOTAL FALSE pretences.
But finding them BEFORE they do what they have planned is what I'M saying the liberals fight against doing. Capturing and arresting them to begin with.

MIAMI (AP) -- A package that was going to be loaded onto a cruise ship at the Port of Miami tested positive for plastic explosives Monday, the Coast Guard said.
The package was tested six times and each time it came back positive for C4, said Petty Officer James Judge.
Miami-Dade police were examining the package to confirm whether explosives were present.
The developments came a day after three Middle Eastern men in a cargo truck sparked a brief terrorism scare at the port. After a bomb squad search, authorities concluded that the men were carrying automotive parts and that the scare stemmed from miscommunication.
