House Approves Page Program Reforms

WASHINGTON (AP) - The House voted Friday to overhaul the board that supervises its congressional page program, seeking to close the book on a sordid e-mail and sex scandal that sullied its reputation and became a Campaign 2006 issue.
Specifically, lawmakers decided that both parties must have equal say in overseeing the program, as old as the institution itself, in which young people come to Washington and carry out a host of tasks in support of the work of Congress.
The purpose of the resolution the members approved Friday was to ensure that teen-age pages no longer are vulnerable to the kinds of electronic-message come-ons associated with now-resigned Rep. Mark Foley, R-Fla.
The bipartisan resolution resulted from the failure of the House Page Board's past Republican chairman, Illinois Republican John Shimkus, to notify other board members that Foley had sent questionable e-mails to a former page.
Pages are high school students who learn about Congress while running errands and attending a congressionally-run school
The new, eight-member board will include an equal number of lawmakers from each party and include a former page and the parent of a current or former page. The board also would have to meet regularly.
Foley resigned his seat last September after news accounts revealed how he became acquainted with male pages while they worked in Congress, and then sent them the improper messages after they left _ including sexually explicit instant messages.

The more BUSHY veto's the better chance Demos have of setting in the White House with a bigger majority in the Senate.

Gay men, 'hitting on' others who are LEGALLY adults....cannot be considered pedohilia. PERIOD. They are NEITHER young children....NOR are they PRE-pubescent.
Morally, I do not support this conduct - whether it be the President of the US hitting on young interns....congressmen and women using the power of their office for their own sexual pleasures...etc.
I find it morally unacceptable....just as I see all gay sex in that same manner.

Its very good to see the 110th Congress STARTING TO CLEAN UP THE TERRIBLE MESS THE REPUBLICANS LEFT BEHIND.
After staying away from Liar_K for a week I felt a lot cleaner. She is like infection ya get around her and her poison spreads.
Foley said it was his Demon drinking. Another republican a guy named Ney was just sent to jail on money charges. Ney said it was the Demon drink that got him.
I bet I have asked Liar_k 20 times how many republican lawmakers are in jail. Most blaming their problems on something else besides themselves. Of course NO answer.
Her son Bear just flat out LIED trying to cover for that miserable failure George W. BUSHY.
I feel better staying away from low lives like those 2 but just can't set back and let them tell LIE after LIE after LIE.
