Dixie Chicks? Are they still alive? Havent heard a peep from them in soooo long figured they were back in the hen house.

Cant remember the last time they were played on the radio here.

I know two of them sold their properties in S Texas and moved out of state. Heat must have gotten to em.

The Dixie Chicks rock! Good for them!

Forgive, sounds good.
Forget, I'm not sure I could.
They say time heals everything,
But I'm still waiting

I'm through, with doubt,
There's nothing left for me to figure out,
I've paid a price, and I'll keep paying

I'm not ready to make nice,
I'm not ready to back down,
I'm still mad as hell
And I don't have time
To go round and round and round
It's too late to make it right
I probably wouldn't if I could
Cause I'm mad as hell
Can't bring myself to do what it is
You think I should

I know you said
Why can't you just get over it,
It turned my whole world around
and i kind of like it

I made my bed, and I sleep like a baby,
With no regrets and I don't mind saying,
It's a sad sad story
That a mother will teach her daughter
that she ought to hate a perfect stranger.
And how in the world
Can the words that I said
Send somebody so over the edge
That they'd write me a letter
Saying that I better shut up and sing
Or my life will be over

I'm not ready to make nice,
I'm not ready to back down,
I'm still mad as hell
And I don't have time
To go round and round and round
It's too late to make it right
I probably wouldn't if I could
Cause I'm mad as hell
Can't bring myself to do what it is
You think I should

""5 Grammys Mark Dixie Chicks' Comeback

Updated 9:27 AM ET February 12, 2007

By NEKESA MUMBI MOODY

LOS ANGELES (AP) - The Dixie Chicks completed a defiant comeback on Sunday night, capturing five Grammy awards after being shunned by the country music establishment over the group's anti-Bush comments leading up to the Iraq invasion.

The Texas trio won all the biggest categories, including record and song of the year for the no-regrets anthem "Not Ready to Make Nice." They also won best country album, which was especially ironic considering they don't consider themselves country artists anymore.

"I'm ready to make nice!" lead singer Natalie Maines exclaimed as the group accepted the album of the year award. "I think people are using their freedom of speech with all these awards. We get the message."

Mary J. Blige's comeback also was richly rewarded: She received three trophies for her double-platinum album "The Breakthrough." The Red Hot Chili Peppers won four for their double-disc "Stadium Arcadium."

The Dixie Chicks won all five awards they were nominated for, sweet vindication after the superstars' lives were threatened and sales plummeted when Maines criticized President Bush on the eve of the Iraq war in 2003. Almost overnight, one of the most successful groups of any genre was boycotted by Nashville and disappeared from country radio.

With "Taking the Long Way," the women relied on producer Rick Rubin's guidance for an album that was more rock and less country. (Rubin, who also produced "Stadium Arcadium," was honored as producer of the year.)

The standing ovations the Chicks received Sunday illustrated how much the political climate has changed regarding the Iraq war, and even Bush."""

I hadn't realized that their lives were actually threatened ! Obviously cavemen who don't believe in democracy or free speech still exist in the good ol USA! Such a shame...

Bear said,"Can't remember the last time they were played on the radio here."

Like always you don't have a wide enough horizon of knowledge. Listening to right wing new-con stations that FEATURE PEOPLE LIKE FAT DRUG ADDICTS is not where you would learn very much or hear the Dixie Chicks. Another reason you new-cons find yourself in a tiny minority with no political power is because of your very narrow minded mindset.

classic,

Because of their narrow minded mindset the new-cons like Bear now find themselves in a small minority with very little political power today and what looks like less political clout to come. Its not me that put people like Bear into the minority it was millions upon millions of his fellow Americans. Try to DENY that.

Classic you are smart enough to know I am only giving Bear good advice about his gun business. I suggest he starts looking into another way to make a living.

With violent crime up across the country and the drug Lords controlling many regions of our southern border its only a matter of time before someone starts making tougher gun laws that will effect his livelihood.

Just remember one thing Classic it was guys like you and Bear that voted for BUSHY so in a way you stripped your own selves of what power you had. Were you guys so blinded by the Bush Bull Roar that you couldn't see Bush's poor leadership, his lies, his Iraq Invasion and his all out war on the middle class? Its BUSHY that ruined your cause not little old me. You guys had it all and Bushy blew it for ya.

Lets see, the Clucks made their name here in Texas and since Mange voiced her opinion, they all suffered the consequences. Texas country stations (and the majority of all other country stations) refused them air time. To get any air time the clucks were forced to change genre. So they got a few awards. It wasnt from the music culture that got them where they are.

I guess if you are like sheepa the first requirement to listening to them is to have you're head up your azz, only then do the clucks makes sense.

The Dixie's aren't played on stations around here.

However I would think they won on their singing .... it could not be their looks .

The ones nominated really do not truly represent what the average person buys or listens to.
Most CD's are purchased by folks under 30 --- methinks the Dixies do not rank numero uno with that group.

I do not care for them(Dixie Chickens) or there SINGING -

PS
I corrected this BECAUSE (cuz in BB lingo) seem to be confused by the word "sangin"

After the incident the Dixie Chick fan base didn't seem to change much in Canada or Europe. I certainly can't speak for everyone but those I know were all shaking their heads and questioning such allegiance to a leader that those who spoke out against him or his war could be blacklisted and boycotted and have their very lives threatened.

I think we always assumed America had free speech like Canada and were even more proud of it but it opened our eyes to a part of America that we hadn't paid that much attention to.

It was shortly afterwards on chat boards that I saw on a small scale the same reaction. Some have wanted to put others in coffins, threaten their business income, or turn them in to the FBI or to the tax department or homeland security. It came across loud and clear "shut up or else..... "

As far as the Grammys or other award shows, sometimes I watch or half-watch for the music or entertainment but often I am saying "Who?" I don't keep up with everything and question some of the talent but music sales and fan bases determine most of it.

Of course it's a matter of choice. I'm talking about a segment of the population who don't agree with free speech when it comes from a group of female singers and actually want to do away with them but support Bush and his plan for spreading democracy around the world so others can have free speech.

Country radio won't forgive Dixie Chicks
Group's Grammy haul may even spark another backlash

Updated: 5:57 p.m. CT Feb 12, 2007

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Country radio still isn’t ready to make nice with the Dixie Chicks.

With a haul of Grammys Sunday, the Texas trio topped their comeback from their 2003 Bush-bashing comment that turned them from superstars to pariahs — but Music Row isn’t welcoming them back into the country-music fold.

“Most country stations aren’t playing the Chicks, and they aren’t going to start now,” said Jim Jacobs, owner of WTDR-FM, a country radio station in Talladega, Ala

“I’m slowly getting my faith back in mankind,” Maines said Sunday.

But the rift with country-music radio seems impossibly wide. The Chicks have said they never felt at home on Music Row, even when they were a top-selling country act.

“If you’re trying to offer an olive branch to country radio, that’s not the way to do it,” said Ken Tucker, Billboard country music correspondent. “The Chicks are celebrating being the outlaws.”

The Grammy for best country album almost never goes to a mainstream Nashville act.

Wes McShay, program director of KRMD-FM, in Bossier City, La., said country fans understand that the big stars don’t win Grammy awards.

“If you’re talking about who’s selling out 15,000-seat auditoriums, those acts are not awarded at the Grammys year after year,” McShay said.

Consider the Country Music Association awards handed out a few months ago in Nashville: Entertainer of the year went to Kenny Chesney; the other big winners were radio favorites Brooks & Dunn, Brad Paisley, Keith Urban and Rascal Flatts.

That the Chicks weren’t even nominated for a CMA award shows how narrow-minded and parochial Nashville’s Music Row can be, Maines said.

“Country music, as far as radio and the industry, they are all right there on four blocks in Nashville,” Maines said after the show Sunday.

The Dixie Chicks peaked at No. 36 on the Billboard country charts with “Not Ready to Make Nice.” That ought to disqualify them from winning best country album, said Jacobs, the Alabama radio station owner.

“How do you win country music album of the year, when country music radio is not playing you?” he said.

“How do you win country music album of the year, when country music radio is not playing you?” he said.

Dixie Chick Emily Robison said the Grammy organization is known for recognizing great albums that don’t necessarily get played on the radio.

“Especially in country, it does have that tradition of honoring the unsung great albums,” Robison said.

kiara,
I don't think its a matter of only "female singers" that speak out against BUSHY the cons in America don't like. They don't like anyone who disagrees with their mindset.

I have said before its the old KKK mentality the cons have, they think they are the only ones that can possibly be right about everything. Remember the old "your either with us or against us" mindset?

Just look at LIAR_K we all could write about a thousand different issues and LIAR_K thinks she is the only one that has the right and only answers.

I agree with the Dixie Chicks I am "not ready to make nice". I plan to do my best to keep them down and without political power. Plus take what little power they have left in 2008.

I agree with you and the cluckers... I have no intentions of making nice... with the likes of the cluckers.

Mostly because , they are making as if ALL those who do not care for their sangin are Bush supporters . Heck I think "Earl Has to Die " is
evidence enuff of their "class"

I still do like the "cluckers"
It is not a political decision , it is a matter of taste .

Hey, I love music but do not care for Micheal Jackson

I love baseball , do not care for Barry Bonds

Bear,
Again and again your post show how narrow minded you are. Look all around you there is a lot more out there than hill billy heaven.

Bear posted this,“Most country stations aren’t playing the Chicks, and they aren’t going to start now,” said Jim Jacobs, owner of WTDR-FM, a country radio station in Talladega, Ala

Your post shows the kind of backward thinking the vast majority of Americans plan to turn around or keep in a tiny minority. The vast majority of Americans believe the thinking of people like Jim Jacobs UN-American and bad for America.

The "your either with us or against us" BULL ROAR don't make it any longer.

Excuse me, I assumed that people that posted on boards almost non -stop understood lingo. I now realize that many posting here do not hand typed nor post in their own words. It is primarily "quotes" cut and paste.

I do not do that.

For all the wonderful posters

Sangin is singing

IMO -Whitney Houston is a singer, The Dixie Chicks well "cluckers" is the best I can say about my opinion of them.
This is my opinion , you have your's, I have mine. Actually I do have opinions, my own opinions not bred and indented into my head by the media.

For instance I think George Clooney is "drop dead good looking" (yum yum)

However, I am not so shallow that I would form my opinion about the future of America by what entertainers or news readers says.

I am surprised that people who are otherwise sound in mind are actually that shallow.

Have a great day
