Elizabeth Edwards wants to censor Ann Coulter.

Ms. Edwards Asks Coulter to Stop Attacks

By MIKE BAKER, Associated Press Writer

Wednesday, June 27, 2007

(06-27) 09:25 PDT Raleigh, N.C. (AP) --

Elizabeth Edwards pleaded Tuesday with Ann Coulter to "stop the personal attacks," a day after the conservative commentator said she wished Edwards' husband, Democratic presidential candidate John Edwards, had been killed by terrorists.

"The things she has said over the years, not just about John but about other candidates, lowers the political dialogue at precisely the time we need to raise it," Edwards said by phone on MSNBC's "Hardball" program, where Coulter was a guest.

Elizabeth Edwards said she did not consult her husband before confronting Coulter on the air, adding that she felt the pundit's remarks were "a dialogue on hatefulness and ugliness."

"It debases political dialogue," Edwards said. "It drives people away from the process. We can't have a debate about issues if you're using this kind of language."

Coulter responded with a laugh and charged that Edwards was calling on her to stop speaking altogether. She questioned why Elizabeth Edwards was making a phone call on behalf of her husband, and she criticized John Edwards for "stealing doctors' money" during his successful career as a trial lawyer.

"I don't think I need to be told to stop writing by Elizabeth Edwards, thank you," Coulter said.

On ABC's "Good Morning America" on Monday, Coulter was asked about a March speech in which she used a gay slur to refer to Edwards.

"If I'm going to say anything about John Edwards in the future, I'll just wish he had been killed in a terrorist assassination plot," Coulter said Monday, picking up on remarks made by HBO's Bill Maher. Maher suggested in March that "people wouldn't be dying needlessly" if Vice President Dick Cheney had been killed in an insurgent attack in Afghanistan.

Mrs. Edwards has spoken her opinion of Ann Coulter. She's said she wished she stop being so hateful. That's called opinion making bear, not censorship. It's the same thing as you wishing that protesting mom whatever her name is would shut up, which you've done here a bunch of times. Your opinion and your right to speak it, not censorship at all. Ann Coulter has every right to spew her bile, and anybody who wants to has a right to say they wish she'd shut the hell up. It's the American way, not censorship. Get over it, I'm sure Ann is loving the attention.

Elizabeth Edwards has the same right to give her opinion on the things Ann Coulter says and writes as Ann Coulter has to say them. Criticism is great, but when you write about John Edwards' bumper sticker saying "Ask Me About My Dead Son", that is cruelty for cruelty's sake. Elizabeth Edwards is that dead boy's mother. If I were she, instead of asking her to stop the cruelty, I would have slapped the witch's face.

Anne Coulter is heading for a big fall. She's reaping terrible karma, and someday it'll catch up with her. What a snide, dreadful woman she is; I think she must be a sociopath.

Hi Roadsmith--I think old Annie has found a way to get what she craves so much---attention. Just like a child who misbehaves to get a parent's attention, even though it is negative attention, she spouts terribly meanspirited, cruel and rude remarks to get attention from mommy and daddy. She is a proponet of the adage "bad publicity is better than none at all."

Coulter's rants are at the behest of th RNC and WH who use her to stir things up and excite some of the knuckle dragging base.

I was appalled that Chris Mathews gave her 48 minutes of air time and basically fawned all over her.

Elizabeth Edwards...a definite high class human being...beautiful in every way...on our side....a true uniter.

Coulter, a vile, angry, hate spewing REPUBLICAN willing to say anything for a buck...a rabid pit bull of nastiness and garbage....they deserve her.

MRC Press Release Concerning Elizabeth Edwards’ Attack on Ann Coulter
Posted by Noel Sheppard on June 27, 2007 - 14:48.

In response to Elizabeth Edwards’ attack on Ann Coulter Tuesday during an installment of MSNBC’s “Hardball,” the President of the Media Research Center, Brent Bozell, has issued the following statement:

“Elizabeth Edwards should look close to home when it comes to ‘hatefulness and ugliness’ for it was her husband’s Democratic presidential campaign that hired two official bloggers who attacked ‘Christofascists’ and insulted Christians and their faith in the most repulsive words imaginable, which I won’t repeat here. Go Google Amanda Marcotte and Holy Spirit.

“As for Ann Coulter, don’t be fooled by the smoke and mirrors orchestrated by the liberal Democrat Elizabeth Edwards and her advisers in the Democratic Party. This attack on Ann Coulter, a conservative writer, is part of the liberals’ plan to squash free speech by conservatives. They want to silence Coulter, as well as Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, Laura Ingraham, Michelle Malkin, and many others. Hugo Chavez does this type of censoring in Venezuela—but in America, we don’t.

“Nonetheless, Senators Kerry and Durbin this week called for restoring the Fairness Doctrine—government-enforced equal time for liberals on talk radio—and John Podesta, former chief of staff to President Clinton, released a hatchet-job report last week calling for regulations to fix the supposed imbalance in political talk radio.

“The liberals cannot sell their product—liberal talk radio—in the marketplace, so they are planning to use the power of government to stop conservatives from selling their product, conservative talk radio. Liberals don’t believe in free exchange, tolerance, or the marketplace of ideas. They believe in the iron boot of liberalism stamping out any view that upsets the liberal apple cart. Mrs. Edwards’ attack on Coulter is just another volley in the liberals’ attack on conservative writers and conservative talk radio.”

"cannot sell their product" lol....yep and they sure have tried. The people can only listen to THAT hatred being spewed by the likes of those on air-america for about 5 minutes ...then they turn it OFF. And rightly so, imo.

"And his wife making those demands make him look even more wimpy."

It makes him look like the coward and hypocrite that he IS. Sends little wifey to defend him. lol lol

And all this liberal 'gosh look how hateful Ann is' lol lol....but they NEVER see their own party leaders comments that way. They're blind to the hate that comes from them even towards our soldiers. tsk tsk

What they hate/dislike the most about Ann is that she speaks the TRUTH about liberals. And they can't handle the TRUTH. lol lol

==============================
What ever happened to the liberal's Al Franken? Nobody wants to listen to him anymore either? LOL LOL LOL
====================

One of my favorite Ann Coulter quotes because it so much defines their words/actions:

"Liberals have a preternatural gift for striking a position on the side of treason, whenever the nation is under attack, from within or without, liberals side with the enemy. This is their essence."

"While the democratic party complains about everything THIS President does to protect our Nation": "What would a Democrat president have done at that point?"

"Apparently, the answer is: Sit back and wait for the next terrorist attack."

What it IS is another way for the edwards campaign to raise more money.

I'm beginning to think they LOVE it when Ann makes some comment they can WHINE about to the cameras. Last time and this time they IMMEDIATELY run to their supporters, sending out emails asking for MORE donations towards his campaign.

Typical lawyer. Get the money any way you can.

Edwards doesn't seem like a man that orders his wife to do his work. His wife looks to be a strong lady with a mind of her own.

Edwards does not look like a coward. Though some women have obviously never experienced it in their lifetime, so have little understanding of the concept, there are many happy relationships where men and women have equal footing when it comes to speaking their own mind.

From today's PatriotPost.....

how true....

"SHORT CUTS

"[i]Democrat presidential candidate John Edwards has become nearly
irrelevant. With the exception of Iowa, where he leads by a few points in
the poll averages, Edwards is a non-story. He trails Hillary and her sky high
unfavorables. He lags behind Obama and his ultra-thin resume. He's even finds
himself looking up at Al Gore, a horse so stale he's been on the national
stage since Britney was sober and in the mouseketeers." ---Jason Wright

Probably why he and his mrs. HAVE to make such a big deal about anything, anyone has to say about him - including Ann Coulter. LOL LOL LOL

They NEED the exposer, besides the MONEY. lol lol

Hear, hear, Kiara! yes, some of us have PARTNERSHIP marriages. My husband has never "sent" me to do something for him, and vice versa. When we were dating in college, and I was editor of the student newspaper, our adviser and our president suggest to me that Bob, the class brain, was probably writing my editorials for me. I don't know when I've been so angry. We are independent souls.

That sounds like it came from a wimpy, belly-crawling woman whose husband told her what to do and she obeyed like a scared puppy. Explains why, now that he's out of the picture, she's exploded like a large and long festering pimple.

Only the extremely uneducated could find fault with the following statements and REQUEST from Ms. Edwards:

""Elizabeth Edwards pleaded Tuesday with Ann Coulter to "stop the personal attacks," a day after the conservative commentator said she wished Edwards' husband, Democratic presidential candidate John Edwards, had been killed by terrorists.

It boggles my mind that anyone would take Coulter seriously. Elizabeth Edwards probably should not have called in to that show. I realized that when I saw the gleeful look on Coulter's face when she did. That being said, Mrs. Edwards was polite, was NOT demanding, did not attack anyone and just tried to make her point. Coulter, immediately on the attack, screamed like a banshee, talked over Mrs. Edwards and when Mrs. Edwards mentioned Coulter's column about the "Ask me about my dead son" bumper sticker, Coulter made a remark about that being so long ago. I guess there is a statute of limitations on taking responsibility for a heartless remark like that.

I half agree with Profe and Coincoach that maybe she shouldn't have called....but on the other hand I'm sure whoever saw and/or heard the exchange, and has a brain in their head, KNOWS who won and it wasn't the paid-whore-banshee-easylay-typical-repug-hate-filled Annie.

It showcased the righties at their "best" YES!

It highlighted a contrast that I bet the repugs don't really relish....

Profe, I just checked the dictionary. It's Webster's New Dictionary (not published by the original publishers of Webster's) and is a cheap one that I got years ago when a fellow used to drop a selection of books off at one of my shops and we could browse through them for a couple of days and then select the ones we wanted when he came back.

"This edition published by DS-MAX Canada Inc, DS-MAX U.S.A. Inc. & Marlor Trading Inc"

"An American Book Works Corporation Production"

The copyright is 1995.

"Printed in the United States of America"

Does anyone know if the majority of books are still printed in the US or has that moved to China now also?

Funny that the only two defending Coultergeist here are two individuals who are completely out of touch from reality. Just curious, but does Bear and Linda share a room in a state mental hospital??? They surely behave that way. Typical hypocritical swine, rolling in their neocon feces of hatred as usual.

Let's not forget how recent reports have shown that the Republican leadership's goals were to bring this country to a one party system... eliminating any other party but their own... a means of true censorship. They weren't ASKING someone to quit making hateful remarks. Step into the sunshine of reality Linduh and BearPorn... it is much nicer on this side of the fence.

I might also add... I actually like Ann Coulter being on television. She should be on television all the time. In fact, she should replace Rosie O'Donnell on the View. As long as she continues to represent the Republican and Conservative views, she will continue to reveal the truth about how backasswards the neocons really are. Her out of touch from reality opinions and hatred truly reflect the Republican "values" they hold dearly to their heart.

I saw the entire telephone conversation. Elizabeth was a kind but firm lady, never raising her voice, never sneering, never name-calling. Ann sneered and resorted to the sort of kiddy stuff similar to "oh, yeah? So are you" that most of us have outgrown by the time we were 16.

If someone would post the conversation here, everyone can see the words used (but unfortunately not the tone).

Elizabeth is a brilliant attorney and has every right to do what she did. Her husband adores her, and I'm sure he's doing a lot of grieving in private over the prospect of losing her in a few months.

How typical. mrs. edwards statements of I'm holier than thou are okay with them. But let Ann speak the truth....and they all go crazy again.

Ann sure has a way of getting their attention. LOL She's done her job well when they SCREAM out in hated as much as they do. It's great to watch supposedly intellectual [in their minds] people totally LOSE it when ever Ann speaks. LOL

LOL You often mention 'swine', you must really have some close association with pigs, rusty. The only time anyone 'rolls in their feces' is when you post your own personal FILTH here. You and you alone.
Maybe there's also some history in your fascination with feces....since again it's in most of your 'brilliant' posts here.

ROFLOL

Yes, I saw the entire segment too, and it was just as you say. Elizabeth was firm but polite and Annie was a banshee. Elizabeth was asking that the hate-filled, cruel speech and writing be toned down, as it helps no one. Coulter, in her usual hyperbole, was complaining that Elizabeth wanted her to stop writing all together. Geesh. The main reason I wish Mrs. Edwards had not called, is that it gives Coulter what she craves, attention. It also gives opponents the opportunity to spin the situation into something it was not.
