While billions are being spent in Iraq to fight the war on terror, the biggest threat to American security is found right here in the US. So much for the theory of "fight them there to prevent war here"

More than two dozen "clusters" of young Muslim men in the northeast United States pose the most serious threat to homeland security, but they are not the type of terrorists behind the September 11th attacks, which the NYPD labels an "anomaly" in a report released Wednesday.

The report, by the NYPD's intelligence and counter terrorism divisions and titled "Radicalization in the West and the Homegrown Threat," was discussed during a conference of law enforcement and security officials headed by Police Commissioner Ray Kelly at Police Headquarters in Lower Manhattan.

It concludes that the September 11th attacks were an "anomaly" and the most serious terror threat to the country comes from clusters of "unremarkable" individuals who are on a path that could lead to homegrown terror.

The report focuses on "the trajectory of radicalization" and tracks the path of a non-radicalized individual to an individual with the willingness to commit an act of terror.

"The threat is real; this is not some bogey man we are creating here," said Rand Corporation terrorism expert Brian Jenkins, who reviewed and contributed to the NYPD report. "There are individuals who are proselytizing, inciting angry young men to go down this path."

The report identifies mosques, bookstores, cafes, prisons and flop houses as what it calls "radicalization incubators" that provide "extremist fodder or fuel for radicalization."

The leader of an American Arab civil rights group labeled the NYPD report as "unfortunate stereotyping" and at odds with federal law enforcement findings that the threat from homegrown terrorists was minimal.

"It is completely un-American; it goes against everything we stand for," said Kareem Shora, executive director of the American Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee. "We do not want to alienate any segment of any community, and by using that language you are actually aiding the extremists in their recruiting efforts."

The NYPD report concludes that while al Qaeda can provide inspiration and an "ideological reference point," instances of command and control by al Qaeda are the exception rather than the rule.

It states that most or many terrorist attacks and attempted attacks in Europe, Australia, Canada and the United States have been thought up by and planned by local residents seeking to attack their own country of residence.

The report is seen by several individuals familiar with it as filling a large gap in the most recent National Intelligence Estimate, which was released July 17 and contained little to no explicit discussion of homegrown terrorism.

The NYPD report cites at least 10 well-known recent cases where local authorities, the FBI and European police and intelligence agencies have thwarted plots developed either wholly or in a very large part by homegrown "actors," with little or no support from al Qaeda.

In an Intelligence Assessment published at the end of June, New Jersey officials at the state's Office of Homeland Security and Preparedness noted, "Through its ongoing review of extremist Web logs, the Intelligence Bureau has identified numerous pockets of radical youth existing in New Jersey communities and especially on N.J. campuses."

The purpose of the structure proposed by the NYPD is to create a tool enabling authorities to measure whether these "pockets" are moving from sanctioned activities toward violence.

Other law enforcement efforts to arrive at a prescriptive approach to homegrown terrorism are underway, and law enforcement officials are conscious that while these activities seem essential, they touch on thorny political issues in many jurisdictions and have to be carefully orchestrated to avoid conflict with constitutional protections in the U.S. But, Jenkins says, those protections have an outer limit.

"Freedom of speech, freedom of religion does not provide a defense against planning and preparation for violence," Jenkins said.

In West Yorkshire, England, a "community mapping model" is underway seeking to identify potential high-risk pockets in the region, which includes Leeds, home to several alleged conspirators of the four bombers in the July 7, 2005 attack on London's transportation system that killed 52 people.

In at least one major U.S. city, a similar pilot study is under consideration.

The New Jersey Intelligence Assessment identified prisons, the Internet, universities and religious/cultural institutions as the places where "radicalization in New Jersey appears to occur."

That report also spells out the key concern behind the intense law enforcement effort to make an effort to identify individuals who might be moving toward violence.

"There is evidence that radicalization is taking place in the U.S ... Studies of this phenomenon in Europe have shown that these individuals are virtually indistinguishable from the population in which they live. Certain risk factors such as age and personality type may be identified, but they are not predicative," the New Jersey report says.

The dense, 90-page NYPD analysis is the nation's first full analysis of the potential for increased homegrown terror in the United States and the first to develop a matrix on which to plot the course of "unremarkable" people as they move toward the potential for violent action.

See Linda homegrown terrorists are the bigger threat to America, not al Qaeda as you like to believe.

"See Linda homegrown terrorists are the bigger threat to America, not al Qaeda as you like to believe"

So you believe that one report makes it true. Typical.

OK, let's see. The exit polls showed that Bush was losing. Was it true?? Polls, reports.

Lib: Oh I see that one report says... so it must be true.

Do some thinking on your own, if you can stay out of gay bars long enough.

The biggest threat to American security are LIBERALS who continually worry MORE about terrorists having 'RIGHTS' during war time than they do protecting our society.

They threaten our society when they are so willing to overlook the actions of the suspected terrorists who have been captured inside the US, some convicted, some still waiting for trial.

They threaten our society when they support 'sanctuary cities' - which violate our laws and allow illegals to remain here.

They threaten our society when they DENY terrorism/terrorists in Iraq ARE who we are fighting there. When they continue SLAMMING and LYING about the actions of our soldiers who HAVE been brave enough to put their lives on the line. Liberals work AGAINST our troops missions.

They threaten our society in a hundred ways.... they are our ENEMY from within, imo.

They fight to close GITMO down...whine about how terrible these terrorists are being treated. But NEVER mention that our soldiers have feces, urine, spit and everything else thrown at them through the cells bars that keep these animals in tow.

They threaten our society when they refuse to wake up about the threat we now face.....and change their political positions NOT according to what needs to be done, but what's more POPULAR.

THAT is why we suffered 9-11. AQ saw us a WEAK...and that is what liberals continue to work to show them.....SURRENDER is their motto. ;-(

Lib: Oh I see that one report says... so it must be true.

I guess if Bush keeps saying the same tired lines over and over and over again, then that makes a lie true.

You have been listening to Bush way to much. You do not know fact from fiction.

Do some thinking on your own, if you can stay out of gay bars long enough.

Another "fag hag" that has been following me into gay bars. If you know I go, then you must have followed me there to. Did you like what you saw there. I hope some guy did not try to hit on you. I'd rather be in a gay bar, then have my head up some horses rear end.

I hope you don't live in Texas because you think it would make your manhood bigger than it really is. No matter how you try, a small penis will always be a small penis. Living in Texas will not make that any bigger. "Everything is not bigger in Texas" despite what you may have been thinking.

That's typical, when LD gets flustered and makes an azz of himself, he start thinking about penis size. Keep up the good work.

Another baby starting to whine about the insults. It is not any different than you and your fellow dirt bags saying something about my ass when you can't think of anything else to say.

Once again the hypocrisy of those on the right. You can dish out all the insults you want, but when they are directed at you, you whine like a little girl on the playground.

Why don't you take Linda and run off any play with Barbie and Ken. You too can have some tea and pretend Osama Bin Laden and Al Qaeda are coming to attack Barbie's dream house with some WMD.

Eyes wide open about the terrorists American patriots are fighting and the liberals who protect them.

The great civil rights cause of our time, NOT

It is a measure of how low the American left has sunk since 9/11 that the great civil rights cause of our time (for them) is terrorists and genocidal Muslims, particularly Palestinian Muslims (if there are moderate Muslims in Gaza and the West Bank they are all either in fear for their lives or already dead, but in any case as silent as the "good Germans" were before them).

Save the Guantanamo 500!

Free Jose Padilla!

Even Andrew Sullivan has gone to the mat to present Padilla as an innocent trampled by the Bush storm troopers on their way to destroying the Constitution and the rights of all the rest of us. But even the New York Times recognizes that it's a good result that a would be terrorist is behind bars. Actually Padilla is not a would be terrorist -- as the times calls him -- but a terrorist who was caught before he failed to kill anyone.

Americans can be thankful that whatever else his failings George Bush is president and not some liberal who thinks that we are the cause of the war on terror and our first duty is not to protect ourselves but to read the bin Ladens and Zarqawis and Zawahiris their Miranda rights.

The bigger threat to American security is FOR SURE the radical liberal/progressive left.

They always have been....and they continue to be.

===================================

Posted at 8:25 PM on 8/17/2007 by David Horowitz

It's always been apparent that the left can dish it out but can't take it.

It's always been apparent that the left can dish it out but can't take it -- and that they will rush to the defense of anyone -- mass murderers, child killers, genocidal religious zealots, provided they are enemies of the United States.

The only reason the left supported their own country in World War II was because the Soviet Motherland had been attacked and America was its only salvation. So it did not come as a surprise to me that Rick Perlstein would have a very thin skin and a very narrow focus on his amour propre should he decide to respond to my blog post.

There are large issues -- e.g, why he and his friends and supporters find a video about the Islamist war against us to be more frightening than the Islamist war against us. But Rick can't handle issues like that. So he posts a letter from a friend of his which quotes a script from the Young Ones -- as it happens one of my favorite shows. Rick's friend apparently doesn't realize this is a send up of leftists. In the same way Rick's other friends accuse me of Soviet-style propaganda, forgetting that it was progressives like them who believed the propaganda and abetted Soviet crimes, just as they are eating up Islamist propaganda and abetting the crimes of Islamists today.

Naturally Rick's friend found it "frightening and sad" that I would expend so much energy "demonizing a people." I wonder if people like Rick and his friend realize how absurd this sounds.

How can you demonize Osama bin Laden, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and Hassan Nasrallah -- the figures targeted in our video What Every American Needs to Know About Jihad?

How can you demonize religious fanatics who call for the extermination of the Jews and war against infidels?

How old are you? 15?

You should get psychiatric help for that penis fascination that you have.

Does the Left Know Who The Enemy Is?

By David Horowitz
FrontPageMagazine.com | 8/17/2007

Does anyone wonder where the Tom Hayden-Jane Fonda SDS radicals went?

The ones who chanted “Hey, hey LBJ how many kids did you kill today?”

and cheered on the Communists in Vietnam,

and went into the streets to demand America’s withdrawal from Vietnam

and became suddenly silent when our troops were pulled and the Communists proceeded to slaughter two-and-a half million Cambodians and Vietnamese?

Well today they are the heart and soul of the Democratic Party, calling for a capitulation in the war in Iraq and referring to George Bush as Hitler, or perhaps merely suggesting that his mentality is fascist, while insisting and that America’s war in Iraq is a mask for conquest and imperial goals.

These aging New Lefties are also busy digging graves for the Jews in the Middle East by pretending that the genocidal Muslims in the Palestinian territories are really victims and that they only express genocidal desires because they’re frustrated and reduced to desperation by American and Israeli power.

The lefties I’m referring to are grouped around magazines like the Nation and the American Prospect and websites like Daily Kos and Common Dreams; their organizations are among the netroots and Democratic Party caucuses like the “Campaign for America’s Future,” which are mandatory stations on the road to the White House for the current crop of Democratic presidential candidates.

These observations are provoked by an email I received from one of their number, a political piranha with intellectual pretensions named Rick Perlstein. His email read: “Couldn't find your jihad vid on YouTube as promised in your email today. What's the YouTube URL? – RP” Of course I knew who Rick Perlstein was, and the lack of a hello in his email or any modicum of civility, which even a political opponent could be expected to muster, might have caused a less generous fellow than I can sometimes be to ignore the communication or just tell him to get lost. After all, on past occasions he had attacked me pretty viciously, and this email was not a response to anything I had actually written but to an e-newsletter that my staff had put out which bore my signature.

But that is not the way I deal with people. Instead of treating him according to his deserts, I did what I usually do in such cases and let the insulting style float by me while responding thus:

“Dear Rick, I'm not sure which of our three videos you’re referring to. You can access all three at www.terrorismawareness.org....”

To which he replied: “Your e-newsletter says ‘What Every American Needs to Know About Jihad’ is on YouTube, which I’d like to embed on my site.”

By this time I had a pretty good idea that whatever he was going to do with the video was not going to be pleasant, but I went along with the program anyway: “I’m happy to be collaborating on something with you. I’ll have to pass this question on to my technical people…”

Perlstein did “embed” the video (which can be accessed here) on his website along with this commentary:

http://frontpagemag.com/Articles/Read.aspx?GUID=3392BA16-BD30-4305-ADEA-BBCC1BE12564

Consider these comments on Perlstein’s “Campaign for America’s Future,” website. This is an audience, remember, which Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama and the other Democrats who might be president think it is necessary to woo:

“Now David Horowitz seems to be trying to fill the shoes of both Goebbels and Leni Riefenstahl…. Bragging that the JTTF is using his ‘film’ is like bragging that the Nazi’s are buying his Swastika’s. The JTTF has a track record that marks it as a political unit designed to target Bush Administration opponents – Citizen Steve.”

Is this who Rick Perlstein is hanging out with? People who think the CHP and the FBI are the Nazi Party?

=========================

Yep one only has to have their eyes WIDE open to see the liberal candidates seek the approval/support from these WACKOS.

These are the special interest groups the progressive/socialist, liberal candidates are siding with.

THEY are the biggest threat to our Nation.
