Excerpt from coming biography by Robert Draper Dead Certain: The Presidency of George W. Bush:
WASHINGTON: When President George W. Bush is asked what he plans to do when he leaves office, he often replies curtly: "I don't have that much time to think beyond my presidency" or "I'm going to sprint to the finish."
But in an interview with a book author in the Oval Office one day last December, he daydreamed about the next phase of his life, when his time will be his own.
First, Bush said, "I'll give some speeches, just to replenish the ol' coffers." With joint assets that have been estimated at as high as nearly $21 million, Bush added, "I don't know what my dad gets - it's more than 50-75" thousand dollars a speech, and "Clinton's making a lot of money."
Then he said, "We'll have a nice place in Dallas," where he will be running what he called "a fantastic Freedom Institute" promoting democracy around the world.
Watched Hardball with Chris Matthews tonight and all but one of the guests and Chris himself were apoplectic over this statement. Seems kind of cold, what with our troops still being killed and maimed.

I just LOVE reading how liberals view things. Always so one sided so much in denial.
Can I presume, C, that you feel the same way about all those dems/liberals who still support this war? Should they not be earning any money because our troops that they too sent to war - a war they too continue to support is ongoing?
Somehow I think I already know your answer. lol
Like this President doesn't have a 'right' to whatever life he can provide for his family because he decided to follow our National policy and remove saddam from power? A policy the dem. administration approved of, voted for and made our national policy, and clinton signed.
How funny....odd to be so short-sighted and biased.
SO very typical of liberals and so very misguided and biased.

Another excerpt:
Bremer Rebuts Bush On Iraq Army Order
Yesterday, the Los Angeles Times noted excerpts from journalist Robert Draper's new book, "Dead Certain: The Presidency of George W. Bush," which describe President Bush "saying that he initially wanted to maintain the Iraqi army and, more surprising, that he cannot recall why his administration decided to disband it." Bush said, "The policy was to keep the army intact; didn't happen." Draper "pressed Bush to explain why, if he wanted to maintain the army, his chief administrator for Iraq, L. Paul Bremer III, issued an order in May 2003 disbanding the 400,000-strong army without pay." Bush said, "Yeah, I can't remember; I'm sure I said, 'This is the policy, what happened?'"
Today, in a front-page article, the New York Times reports that Bremer supplied a series of letters to the Times regarding the dissolution of the Iraqi army "after reading that Mr. Bush was quoted in a new book as saying that American policy had been 'to keep the army intact' but that it 'didn't happen.'" According to the Times, on May 20, 2003, Bremer wrote to former Secretary of Defense Rumsfeld and Bush, "We must make it clear to everyone that we mean business: that Saddam and the Baathists are finished." Bremer went on to describe "efforts to remove members of the Baath Party...from civilian agencies," and said he would "'parallel this step with an even more robust measure' to dismantle the Iraq military." The Times notes that in the Draper book, Bush "sounded as if he had been taken aback by the decision." In a telephone interview with the Times, Bremer "indicated that he had been smoldering for months as other administration officials had distanced themselves from his order.

Do you hear any of those dems/liberals or even Republicans talking about how much money they'll rake in? It is unseemly and very unpresidential to talk in this manner while troops are getting blown to bits.

"He was ASKED....and he answered. Do we need someone to ask THEM?
Go ahead and ask them. I doubt you will find anyone stupid enough to answer in like manner. The man's insensitivity is mind-boggling. And,yes--I am biased. Anyone who says some of the things Bush says in this book deserves the scrutiny he will get.

"deserves the scrutiny he will get"
How funny. From those who have been whining about him from day one. So do others care? No. It's a liberal thing.
He'll get no more 'scrutiny' than have hillary or bill when their books came out where they tried, but failed, to revise/rewrite history.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"While the democratic party complains about everything THIS President does to protect our Nation": "What would a Democrat president have done at that point?"
"Apparently, the answer is: Sit back and wait for the next terrorist attack."
"He'll get no more 'scrutiny' than have hillary or bill when their books came out where they tried, but failed, to revise/rewrite history."
If he gets even half the scrutiny and criticism the Clinton's have received, he is really in for it. Bush is the champion at revising history. Here's two little examples of his history revision in his speech to the VFW:
"At the outset of World War II there were only two democracies in the Far East -- Australia and New Zealand. Today most of the nations in Asia are free..."
Comment: what irony. If Bush had attended his Asian history course, he would know that virtually every nation liberated since World War II gained its freedom not from United States military intervention but from the withdrawal of British, French, and Dutch imperialists.
"In Cambodia, the Khmer Rouge began a murderous rule in which hundreds of thousands of Cambodians died by starvation and torture and execution."
Comment: Cambodia was peaceful until we destabilized that nation, resulting in the toppling of its legitimate government and the ascension to power of the horrid Pol Pot and his Khmer Rouge. As anyone serious about history knows, a necessary condition for the triumph of the Khmer Rouge was the devastating American bombing campaign in Cambodia.
I doubt that fool will be writing a book, though. He's not capable of writing (at least in English); he'll have to find a ghost writer to do it for him.
LOL C. Is that the position MOST liberals take in rewriting WWII history? LOL I don't believe it is. Are you further left than a liberal? lol
Your world view is typical of American haters/bashers. Never give her credit for anything she has done that worked out well...but bash everything she does as being wrong.
Do you like living in this country....or do you too despise it???
Before WWII Japan, Germany were our enemies. They are now our allies. We did something right. No matter what YOU think. lol
I did not post about WWII, Linda. Try re-reading it. It was about Cambodia and the Khmer Rouge coming to power. That is not a liberal opinion, that is historical fact from several sources.
Unlike you, I love this country for many reasons and because its constitution allows me to criticize it without repercussion. Didn't your mother tell you to sit up straight, stop biting your nails, get your elbows off the table? She still loved you, though.
LOL....just as I said. You're nothing more than ANOTHER liberal who 'blames America first'. tsk tsk tsk"""
No, another person who states FACTS that neocons don't like . A statement that wasn't re-written so Americans could put their heads in the sand and feel good....all you neocons want to do is "FEEL GOOD"....nothing else matters.
