Some question 'are we safer now'....and the more great news I read like this, convinces me we are. Even though the liberals continue to fight against/vote against our fed. gov spending what it takes to protect our Nation.

Why are they rarely on the side of protecting/defending America? I'll never understand their position. Much better, in their opinions, to give $5,000.00 to each newborn baby, socialized national health care/etc., than to spend money that allows America to be able to defend herself. If N.K. ever becomes able to send a few missiles our way....those issues won't be what saves our lives. Imo, their priorities are WAY out of order.

U.S. carries out successful missile defense test

A U.S. interceptor missile on Friday shot down a dummy warhead replicating an incoming North Korean missile in the seventh successful test of Boeing Co's long-range missile shield, the Pentagon said.

The Missile Defense Agency said in a statement it completed a test "involving a successful intercept by a ground-based interceptor missile designed to protect the United States against a limited long-range ballistic missile attack."

The interceptor missile was launched from Vandenberg Air Force Base on California's central coast, and its target was fired from Alaska's Kodiak Island.

Raytheon Co said a radar it developed, which was located at Beale Air Force Base in California, tracked the target for about 15 minutes during its flight to the intercept point several hundred miles west of California.

"We got it," said test witness Riki Ellison, president of the private Missile Defense Advocacy Alliance, a group funded in part by missile shield contractors. "It was a success."

The $85 million test was a rerun of one that was supposed to have taken place in May but was scrubbed when the target misfired.

The test marked the sixth successful downing of a target in 10 full-fledged intercept tests since October 1999 in which knocking down the target was the primary objective, said Richard Lehner, a spokesman for the Missile Defense Agency.

"With another intercept under our belts, we have even greater confidence that the (Ground-Based Midcourse Defense) system, if called upon in a real-world scenario, will defend the nation against a limited ballistic missile attack," said Scott Fancher, Boeing's vice president and program director for the system.

On September 1, 2006, the same missile system shot down a target. But the Pentagon said that test had been designed chiefly to collect flight data, not stop a target warhead. As a result, it was not included in the latest tally as reported by Lehner.

The Bush administration is building a layered shield to thwart ballistic missiles from countries like North Korea and Iran that could be tipped with chemical, germ or nuclear warheads.

Other components of the emerging anti-missile shield are based at sea, in the air and in space.

The United States want to install 10 ground-based interceptor missiles in Poland and a tracking radar station in the Czech Republic as a defense against a potential missile attack from Iran. Russia opposes the plan, saying it would upset a delicate strategic balance between major powers and threaten its own security.

U.S. critics say the missile defense tests prove little because they are highly scripted. An attacker would use decoys that would likely foil U.S. defenses, they say.

"Once again, there were no countermeasures or decoys used, making this test one of the simplest, easiest, flight intercept tests they've ever tried," Philip Coyle, the Pentagon's chief weapons tester under former President Bill Clinton, said in a statement e-mailed to Reuters.

It's very clear which party works more towards defending out Nation and which thinks all this money spent is a waste and should go to more socialistic entitlements.

I hope the voters take that into consideration come '08.

OK, here's the general, the ultimate Iraq "expert", the guy who has ALL the information, in HIS OWN WORDS:

When asked by a senator if the war in Iraq had made Americans safer the general replied,

" I don't know."

I wonder how or why linduh knows more than the guy who according to her is the world's most respected general ?????????
Does linduh get more informmation than this top general??? WOW! I AM impressed!

LOL!

Poor, IGNORANT mingo. "Does linduh get more informmation than this top general???

On approx. June 6, 2007 old hillary said:

"In Sunday night's Democratic debate, Senator Hillary Clinton said:

I believe we are safer than we were,” Mrs. Clinton said. “We are not yet safe enough, and I have proposed over the last year a number of policies that I think we should be following.”

So.....as usual mingo refuses to acknowledge the FACTS of what the dem TOP runner has said. DENIAL again <sigh>

==================

AND hillary was NOT speaking about the missile defense program that most Republicans support while the democrats vote AGAINST, every chance they get. They DON'T want money spent on our Nations DEFENSE....and their VOTES are there for anyone to verify that FACT. As a whole, their party votes AGAINST missile defense proposals/funding.

THAT's what this thread is speaking about......NOT Iraq. But then mingo is so EASILY CONFUSED. tsk tsk tsk

When she's NOT posting out and out LIES from her bible, media matters, she's changing the topic to something entirely different than missile defense successes.
