I watched Hillary's economic speech this morning (on nearly all of the cable stations). She looked gorgeous in a muted turquoise suit and I wondered if anyone else noticed that.

I wrote to her campaign a month ago and suggested they tell her not to wear black or dark brown--that those colors wash her out; and also I said to please tell her to quit nodding incessantly when someone's asking her a question. After I began noticing it, it was irritating. I know these are trivial, and I have no idea if any of these suggestions are passed along to her handlers.

Sorry, Roadsmith, but that is trivial to the point of ...of...I don't know what...

She is a loser and her clothes selection won't make or break her...she could float in on a cloud, in robes glowing with heavenly light, sprout wings, and I still would NOT vote for her. And I don't care what Obama wears, he's got my vote.

I do agree that ANYONE'S constant head nodding is irritating....I see that at company meetings and have to control the urge to slap these people (obnoxious suck ups!)

Mingo: I'll vote for either Hillary or Obama, whichever gets the nomination, but I'm leaning toward Obama. I guess I just want Hillary to be presented in the best possible light (in case she's our candidate), and I went to so many seminars for women out in the world, when I was working, that I tend to notice things about women. You'll have to excuse that in me, please.

Attending the National League of Cities and Towns in D.C. in the mid-80s, I met many women who'd been elected. And I was struck that none of them had big hair or, really, any sort of fancy hairdo at all. (In our seminars we were told that big/long hair says you've come to play, not to work.) Just hair that was in place and tidy.

The "ho" look is in vogue now, Roadsmith.

Tell Hillary to emulate the Fox news ladies, display cleavage and emphasize the width of her ass so that her "look" will complement her agenda.

Then, at least, your email will be appreciated by the blokes who tally emails.

As much as I don't like Hillary, I don't want her looking like Anne Coulter.

LOL, Helen. I've observed that there are successful women in the business and education world now who have broken some of those rules we learned years ago and still made a name for themselves. (And let's not even discuss what women on TV shows consider appropriate to wear in a sit-com office setting! What a bad example to girls.)

My favorite seminar leader was challenged one time by a pretty young woman, very long very BIG hair, who said she'd never cut her hair. The leader told her (and us) that we'd never live long enough to change the rules, so we have two choices: Follow the rules, with a better chance of succeeding, or flout the rules and wonder why you're not getting ahead.

I had very long thigh-high hair when I was at the top of my corporate form, Director and VP (tightly wound bun - librarian style). A baby with sticky hands convinced me to cut it short and I haven't looked back.

And when you blow the candles out on your birthday cake, your hair catches on fire.
