I missed it, if it's been on already. Just wondering how he handled the situation.

Yeah, maybe he could offer Petraeus some of his keen insight. LOL.

"Bitter Jon" seems to be just as delusional as most liberals. He thinks Obama ia "ahead"? Ahead of whom?

Yeah, Obama's going to fix the increase in the cost of living. LOL. With world demand rising and the instability in the Middle East, diesel is now >$4/gal.

A friend of my brother is no longer going to go out on his scallop boat, the fuel cost erodes his profit. Food is rising dramatically due to transportation costs. Don't worry Obama gonna fix it.

Like the comment on the article:

"His modus operandi is to gauge the audience and tell them exactly what they want to hear. Is that fearless? When he made the recent elitist remark about bitterness, he was speaking to a whole lot of rich people in SF. But, those words leaked out. Whenever he is fearless enough to step away from a teleprompter, which slowly runs the speech someone else wrote, he seems to fall apart and says things like "a typical white woman" and "clinging to guns and religion."

All the liberals should vote for Nader. The dumb things he says come from his own mouth.

He's ahead of McCain by little, and Hillary by a lot. Who is it he's not ahead of?

The news reports say McCain "closed a 10pt gap with Obama." Which is funny, since Gallup has Obama 2-3 pt behind for weeks. Historically, Gallup has been dramatically accurate, the others just wishful thinking, like Peepas quoting of AOL polls.

It's amazing that someone like "Peepas" made such an impression on you that you are still referring to his quotes and mentioning his opinions almost a year after his departure.

Gallup Daily: Obama’s Lead Over Clinton Persists

"The poll also shows Obama with his best showing versus Republican John McCain since Gallup began tracking general election preferences in early March. Forty-six percent of registered voters say they would vote for Obama if the presidential election were held today, while 43% would choose McCain. McCain held a slight edge in these presidential election trial heats through most of March into early April, but in the past seven days Obama has tied or slightly outpolled McCain."

Peepa was great for endless bouts of hysterical laughter. It is hard to forget the good times. And while most here suffer from the same disease, nobody has developed the same depth and quality of symptoms. Peepa has thus become a shining icon of the breed, and far from being forgotten, is destined to always be the yardstick.

What disease causes you to misquote polls, Squirrel?

I see there was a flipflop this w/e. That's ok, Obama hasn't opened his mouth in a couple days!

With diesel fuel soaring and truckers starting large demonstrations, he'll have to say something stupid pretty soon. Iranian supplied and backed militia have already invaded the Basra area of Iraq.

Squirrel, yes, there seems to be a lot of flip-flopping, double-talking going on here (in this forum). Edited to add: I also agree that many of our economic woes are due to high fuel prices. Having a president who is not in bed with the oil companies will go a long way to solving these inflation issues.

Most of the large oil fields outside Alaska are in the hands of the state owned oil companies in countries like China,Venezuela,Russia, and a host of hard to pronounce ex Soviet republics (Khazastan?).
These countries see they are sitting on a huge treasure cove and could fetch them a good buck on international market, why should they let the multi national companies such as Exxon,Chevron,Total,BP etc take a piece of it .
Often they will ask for money upfront to fund school, hospitals, not to mention the huge capital expenditure on infrastructure, anyone who has seen There will be Blood will recall the coversation between Daniel Plainview and Standard oil on railroad versus pipeline, without either,he would be sitting on a huge pool of oil with no place to sell it?
Companies like Schlumberger which is an oil service company is offering these state companies that it will do the seismic, set up the production platforms and produce the oil/gas without getting a cut in future revenue, all they want is to be paid for work done.
Exploring and producing oil/gas is dangerous work especially in politically unstable places like Nigeria, and how many of us would like to spend months or weeks in Siberia or endure boredom in the oil sand region of Alberta,Canada ?
This reminds me of an ad taken out by American farmers back in the 60s when food prices have gone up a lot,it said-Before you complain of high food prices,MAKE SURE YOU ARE NOT TALKING WITH YOUR MOUTH FULL?
So,next time when you go out for your next joyride or go to cornerstore to get a newspaper or a carton of milk,or heat your house just remember what the American farmers have to say.
