I think it's brilliant that he's announcing his VP choice to folks who signed up at his website. I've been checking my email all day...

The way his star is falling, he's going to need some kind of gimmick.

Perhaps McCain will announce his VP choice on a flight deck with a banner. The Republicans like that gimmick.

I thought the ridiculous love affair the press has with Obama was bad. I might have been mistaken. An AP poll said 43% of the public is "tired of hearing about Obama".

Squirrel, what do you define as a "falling star"? Fox "News" has Obama 42 to McCain 39 on August 20th. Close, but hardly the waning light you'd just love to see. It has been close from the get-go, nothing has changed. And as far as a love affair with the press, nobody has been given more passes from the press than McCain. That's changing now, as they just can't resist Mr. War Hero Common Man Owns His Own Jumbo Jet's inability to remember how many houses he owns.

I signed up, but still expect to be the last to know. It's usually pretty late when I check mail.

Meanwhile:

1) Obama may choose a whacko nominee like Biden, but the Dems probably wouldn't allow that.

2) The U of Il, under constant hammering, is petitioning the donor to allow release of info concerning Obama and William Ayres & Co.

3) The phenomena of people saying "I'm voting for him too" when questioned in groups who pull a different lever in the booth.

I wonder why people want to vote for a guy who doesn't even know how many houses he and his wife own. The same guy who doesnt know the difference between the Shiites and Sunnis.

Response to questions from a person in the McCain organization:

"Does a guy who made more than $4 million last year, just got back from vacation on a private beach in Hawaii and bought his own million-dollar mansion with the help of a convicted felon really want to get into a debate about houses? Does a guy who worries about the price of arugula and thinks regular people “cling” to guns and religion in the face of economic hardship really want to have a debate about who’s in touch with regular Americans? “The reality is that Barack Obama’s plans to raise taxes and opposition to producing more energy here at home as gas prices skyrocket show he’s completely out of touch with the concerns of average Americans.”

CNN and Fox News both have "confirmed" it is Biden.
Biden will truly be an asset to the Obama ticket. I like Biden. He has experience and much more to offer then just showmanship.

Wow! I checked my spam folder - I got a personal email from Barack. I didn't sign up and have to admit that I had to identify all the campaign stuff as "SPAM":

mary ann --

I have some important news that I want to make official.

I've chosen Joe Biden to be my running mate.

Joe and I will appear for the first time as running mates this afternoon in Springfield, Illinois -- the same place this campaign began more than 19 months ago.

I'm excited about hitting the campaign trail with Joe, but the two of us can't do this alone. We need your help to keep building this movement for change.

Please let Joe know that you're glad he's part of our team. Share your personal welcome note and we'll make sure he gets it:

Thanks for your support,

Barack

The people who do sign up are occasionally asked to forward a message to friends and family. The campaign supplies a box where you can insert e-mail addresses - that's probably how those of you who didn't sign up got messages.

Obama doesn't have my email address but we share an acute sense of telepathy.

That's how I got the good news!
