I can't stay away from the TV news channels! Between the anger of Reid and Dodd over the stalemate re: the bailout, and the gaffes of Sarah Palin, and whether we will or won't have a debate tonight, it's like that old Chinese curse: "May you live in interesting times."
I dreamed last night that McCain asked Palin to step down and then was last seen working on a replacement for her.

Palin's done. Whether she steps down or not, she's been shown over and over for the rube she is.
McCain's antics just get better and better. Swoops into D.C. on his white horse and manages to muck everything up, then breaks another promise and heads off to the debate. Maybe he finally realized that if he stayed in D.C. he'd be screwed no matter what he did. Push for a bailout, p!ss off your base. Oppose the bailout, be shown along with the rest of your ilk to be an obstructionist. Lose Lose either way. The only thing he's good at so far, as Chris Matthews has said, is changing the subject.
Great theater this election.

From what I have been reading and hearing, McCain sat in silence during the meeting at the White House while Obama peppered Paulson with all kinds of questions. Either McCain already had his mind made up not to support the bail out (maybe even obstruct it) or he did not know what was going on. This is why he suspended his campaign and rode into Washington on his white steed?
