That is fascinating, profe. Now to cross my fingers and hope. . . . This afternoon we went to a wonderful outdoor fundraiser in our mountain town at one of the best restaurants--food, music, cut-out of Obama to get our picture taken with, champagne, free bumper stickers and buttons, etc. I think lots of us were interested to see who the other Democrats are in town. We of course know of many, but there were some surprises.
People are as upbeat as they can be, seeing that they're also a little scared. Must have been 200-300 there. Our town is purple--half for each party.
And, of course, at the party there was universal scorn for the insulting suggestion of the Repubs. that we women would vote for ANY woman!

I would consider that irresponsible voting and would hope those people would just stay away. However, we all know that there are people out there that will vote for McCain just because there's a woman running as his VP. Sad, really.

Whitman said she and McCain share a philosophy of scaling back the role of government. a point of view partly shaped by her EBay experience. "The EBay model is very Republican in its essence -- it's about making a small number of rules and getting out of the way while not overtaxing the community," she said.

Really? It's not easy to imagine that any male or female would base their vote on nothing but a shared chromosome.

By the same token, we know there will be people who won't vote for Obama simply because he's black. I know of a couple of them around here. They like what he says and they support his views, but they won't vote for him. How sad is that?
