...Barak Hussein Obama. Too long to post here.

Thanks for a good op-ed piece, Profe. As I said in another thread, McCain and Palin are provoking violent language and anger from their crowds. It isn't that far to the next step. It is criminal that neither one has stopped in mid-sentence to rebuke these idiots. McCain has sold his soul to try to win this election. Palin is a waste of oxygen.

The recent Iowa invocation by Conrad ended with an ominous call to God to save his reputation among all gods throughout the world with "all that happens between now and election day". I hope that with those words he wasn't attempting to offer divine inspiration to some nut to kill Obama.

Whatever there was left of McCain's reputation is trashed. To think that he was not complicit in the attempt to smear Obama's good character or that he was not involved in Palin's effort to incite the hate mongers is total nonsense.

Even McCain's encounter with the dunce placed on stage to give him an opportunity to distance himself from the hate mongers was staged.

The responsibility starts with McCain. Listening to Republican spokespeople this morning on the Morning Joe program, was incredible. They are still saying Palin is a victim of vicious sexism. She is not a victim of anything---she is a victimizer. The fact that she is a woman is not germane at all. She is uninformed and a blowhard. Her mendacity (as Big Daddy used to say)is her major talent. She will look you in the eye, be shown facts to the contrary and still say "who do you believe--me or your lying eyes?"

McCain and Palin are provacateurs, inciting ill-informed, angry people to shout epithets of violence and each time they do so, they push one of these people closer to doing something besides shouting. Unconscionable.

Excellent analysis, Coach.

Thanks, Helen. I confess that I am obsessed with this election. Been doing a lot of reading and thinking and hoping. I cannot imagine a worse scenario than McCain/Palin winning this election. Although Obama/Biden is leading in the polls, anything can happen.
The debate tonight is at my brother's Alma Mater, Hofstra University--a mere 10 minutes from where I live. Wish I could be there.
