Personally, I don't think she's a whack job. I think she's even more dangerous than Chaney in the way she can incite violent thoughts and hatred. I see her as a trouble making bigot who knows how to play to the audience.
Cheryl
Whitman said she and McCain share a philosophy of scaling back the role of government. a point of view partly shaped by her EBay experience. "The EBay model is very Republican in its essence -- it's about making a small number of rules and getting out of the way while not overtaxing the community," she said.

What is a "whack job"? Palin is a flash in the pan. She is SO yesterday's news. She might have been "somebody" had she waited until she WAS ready to pursue national office. She will have a hard time resurrecting herself from jokedom to have any kind of future in the party. She hitched her wagon to a failed agenda. Bye-bye Sarah.

"What is a "whack job"?" It's McCain's handlers term for running mate.

Pixiamom,
Loosely translated, it means nuts. Usually nuts in a loud sort of way. Wikipedia defines it as "Mohawk-wearing member, can conjure electricity" but I don't think that's what most people have in mind.
The urban dictionary defines it as:
A complete loon-ball. A crazy person. Nut-Job.
Someone who needs to be taken out (whacked) for stupidity. A job waiting to happen that saves humanity from genetic disorder.
I define it as "what did you expect, catering to the extreme right wing and selecting someone with no proven history of curiosity, travel, or other pursuits which would indicate interest in how the world IS as opposed to what the Bible says it will be?"
