I pray that Hagan will be the magic #60 in the Democratic count at the end of the election. Elizabeth, shame on you! You are a disgrace to your party. May you have no place in politics in the future.

Old saying is that no one gives up power willingly. It must be hard for the Doles at this point.
I have to say, though, that my husband did give up his power as provost and academic v.p. of a university. He was very good at it, very effective, and could have stayed on for another 17 years, but there were other ways he wanted to live. People couldn't believe he'd just resigned and suspected he'd been let go for some reason. It dumbfounded many on that campus.
