I think so. If I am earning over $250,000 per year and enjoying tax reductions from Bush while sending jobs overseas, rather than letting the wealth trickle down, I am selfish.

I am not sure what your problem is but I would be willing to bet you do NOT earn over $250,000 a year. Too uneducated.

My family voted for Clinton both times, knowing that we would pay more in taxes. We will vote for Obama, knowing that we will pay more taxes. We make more than $250K per year.
My father, an immigrant, finally started making decent money a few years before retirement (at age 70). He was never rich, but he made enough to fund his retirement. He loved this country, because he said that few other places would give a 50-year old a second chance (he also said that America was wasted on Americans ). Shortly before I went off to college, he told me that he was so proud that he paid more in taxes that year than he had made gross a few years previous.
We personally pay more in taxes now than I made 10 years ago. I am proud to do so, and I don't begrudge what goes to help people less well off than I am. I don't mind what goes to education, health care, infrastructure, etc., but I resent the hell out of what goes to the merchants of war and friends of Cheney. I'M THE PATRIOT; THEY'RE SCUM!

Why do you think we are in Iraq and Afghanistan?

I dont pay high taxes, but by staying healthy and keeping out of trouble,my health insurance premium goes toward people who need medical care more than me.
You know Nancy Reagon said it all-DONT GET SICK!
There are better ways to spend your money and have some fun too!

Hwahwa,
"by staying healthy and keeping out of trouble,my health insurance premium goes toward people who need medical care more than me."
Uh, yeah, that's the basic nature of insurance... medical, dental, home, life, automobile, etc. For example, my homeowner's insurance premium goes to people whose house burns down. Do you believe in insurance?
"Why do you think we are in Iraq and Afghanistan? " Short answer: not for the reasons stated by Bush/Cheney.

I used to work for a property/casualty insurance company,I was responsible for a computer system reporting all claims, premium and reserves to various insurance bureaus which in turn report them to the states where we do business.Mass back then was the only no fault state and we reported direct to Mass which has its own insurance bureau.
I have also worked for a health/life insurance company reviewing new computer systems for processing premium and losses.
Back then few companies were making money underwriting health insurance policy, what saves them back then were investment gains.
I also talked to a big pharmaceutical company which decided to become self insured as they think they can save money by being self insured.
As a college student I worked in the summer for an insurance company assisting underwriters to renew policies (homeowner and auto).
The folks I came into contact with are underwriters, actuarials, claims adjusters and accountants and a few in sales and marketing.

Hwahwa, I wrote software for NASA for a while. Does that make me a rocket scientist or physicist?
Re "There are better ways to spend your money and have some fun too!": I hear something along these lines all the time. Do you think we're brain dead and don't realize that a fancier car, more dinners out, longer vacations are more FUN than paying taxes? Life's not all about I-me-me-mine and fun.

That's what you people do not seem to understand. There are not enough "rich people" to fund your grand schemes. YOU are the "rich people".
Listen to this...Warren Buffet describes the difference between the rich and middle class.

You think Warren does that somewhere in there???
From an AP analysis:
"Neither candidate has owned up to the budget crunch that is certain to crimp their promises, send the country far deeper into debt, or both. Obama's assertion that his cost savings more than pay for his programs, and McCain's statement that he'll freeze most government spending and balance the budget in four years, are not believed outside their campaigns and circles of allies."

For once, I tend to agree with the Squirrel (there's that proverbial stopped clock again).
Neither campaign's economic plans will work as they hope they will. I personally believe that Obama will more capably handle the economic facts of life as they reveal themselves after his election than McCain would if he were to be elected.

McCain would do what "normal" people do in their own household. If you cannot afford it, don't buy it. If money is tight, cut, cut, cut. This would never happen. These are not "Democrats" or "Republicans", these are politicians. They live and plan for their cycle at the trough.
Obama has to make promises to the riff-raff to be elected, but of course, a given trough is only so big. This is the "we had to rethink" speech a few months from now. So even with a political majority there will be no massive entitlements. These guys still have to get re-elected the NEXT time.
