Economic gurus have convinced me an economic stimulus package will occur no matter who is president. An ill-timed package will have little effect (such as the Johnny-come lately package from Bush) in lessening the time to recovery. A perfectly timed package will result in a sharp climb, an ill-timed package will result in a very slow curve. The Congress and the President need to be in near lock-step to get this right. No time for filibusters. Edited to add: and, yes Hwa-Hwa this requires Obama to win and Pelosi to win and Americans to win to get the needed job done.

A poll is not a prediction. It is a snapshot of how people are thinking right now.

deichen - Let's hope they don't find a way to steal the election like they did before.

Cheryl
Whitman said she and McCain share a philosophy of scaling back the role of government. a point of view partly shaped by her EBay experience. "The EBay model is very Republican in its essence -- it's about making a small number of rules and getting out of the way while not overtaxing the community," she said.

Theft of the election is my big fear. Rachel Maddow said some very important things on her show last night. She said that having too few election machines is actually rigging/stealing from the voters. Lines of up to 6 hours prevent some day workers from standing in line that long. Etc. She was very persuasive.

We've decried low-voter turnout in this country for decades and decades. We should have back-up systems for an election like this one. Imagine people having to stand in line for up to 6 hours, as they did this weekend, to vote EARLY!
