I don't know about the rest of you, but it's awfully hard for me to concentrate, and hard for me to stay away from the tv news. I'm going to try to keep very busy tomorrow--maybe cooking, or taking eBay pix, to take my mind off things. I may be giving Democrats a ride to the polls in the afternoon.

It was amazing to have to wait in line at 6:30 in the morning to vote. I've never seen this many people at my polling place. Usually I'm in and out. Everyone seemed to be in great spirits and I got to know a lot of my neighbors. It's an honor to be able to participate in this historic election.

Whitman said she and McCain share a philosophy of scaling back the role of government. a point of view partly shaped by her EBay experience. "The EBay model is very Republican in its essence -- it's about making a small number of rules and getting out of the way while not overtaxing the community," she said.

Last night we had a power outage for 1-1/2 hours. No TV, no computers, no lights except a few candles. I found myself actually talking (not arguing, not nagging)to my teenager. He remarked how peaceful it was. It was a nice break. I hope Obama and the dems win by a huge margin today. If not, I've really set myself up for a big let-down.
My Maryland voting precinct was desolate this morning. There were no campaign workers outside the building and no lines. I was able to walk to the precinct, vote and return home in less than 30 minutes.

I went at around 9:30, and it wasn't crowded, but there were small lines at the district-specific machines. The workers said people started lining up at 5AM and it was crowded when it opened. I'm in NJ, just 18 miles from Manhattan, and many in our community commute to NYC, so I guess they wanted to vote before going to work.

I voted at about 9:30 AM in my little Long Island town and have not seen a crowd this large since voting here. A neighbor who works there said that earlier in the morning the line extended outside the school and they expect that and worse this evening. Great to see such a large turnout.

I just got back from voting in my LITTLE (800) town. Noon time - there was a LINE! It was thrilling. I found a young gal here at work who has never voted she was freeked out and terrified. I held her hand and we went together. She cried, said it was easy, didn't think it would be.She wanted to do this for her 3 year old daughter to give her a better future. I'm so grateful God put me in her path.
I found this on a CNN thread and must share. This man says it all perfectly. Pray for peace and Obama/Biden to win for the worlds sake!
"We have an election in New Zealand this week, but the US election is more important. We will have a reasonable government one way or another. The US election will change the world because Obama gives the US and the world hope that the Bush era spiral into greed, invasion, torture, and self centred bullying which has made the US the most hated and feared country in the world will be arrested.
I love Americans and America and have watched in horror as you gave up freedoms you fought for for 200 years for some manufactured “war on terror”. Obama could be a new dawn for the world. More Bush and the US is finished. I just hope you can protect Obama from the nuts on the right and Bush doesn’t do anything stupid like Bombing Iran before he leaves office."

I voted at 10:30 this morning. There were no lines except that the five people who arrived when I did ALL had last names beginning in the range of H-M letters - all the other alphabet groups were wide open with five of us lined up behind H-M. What's the chance of that?
I voted! Hopefully I played a part in making history. I voted for the right man for the right reasons. For the very first time in my life I am PROUD to wear my "I Voted" sticker. I did not vote for the lesser of the evils. I voted for a man with a vision I believe in. I voted, coincidentally for a Black American. COINCIDENTALLY! Amazing! I am thrilled to have had the opportunity to vote for Barack Obama today.
