Hi everyone - thanks to all for your prayers and healing thoughts. Just thought I'd give you an update on the situation.
Devin is still critical but hanging in there. They've been keeping him sedated to try and keep the inter-cranial pressure (in his skull) down as much as possible. The doctors will start weaning him from life support tomorrow after he has another operation on his face. He will definitely need several more operations to rebuild his face but their main concern is brain damage. They have no way of judging that until he is conscious.
Unfortunately he's developed a fever today, they think he has 'a touch of pneumonia'.
On the bright side, everyone in Ireland has been wonderful. My sister said that they must have a rule that you have to be nice before you can live there.
My brother-in-law has been very brave. He had one operation to pin his pelvis back together and he will have another this week to rebuild (or replace) his hip socket which is destroyed. It's particularly hard for him since he's now 120 miles from his son, who had to be airlifted to Dublin for neurological surgery. He has to be in pain but his sole concern is for Devin - he's never complained.
So keep up the prayers and healing thoughts. They've worked so far!!
Thanks to everyone.

Barbara, thank you for the update. I've thought of Devin so many times and I was hopeing you'd be back soon to let us know how he was doing.
I'm sure his dad wants to be with him. No matter what pain a parent has, their first priority, is their child. It's so wonderful that your sister is there.
My best and continued healing thoughts to you and your family.

Yes, thanks indeed on the update. Devin has been on my mind these past days. He, and his family, will remain in our prayers.
May God continue to bless.

Hi again - thanks for all the prayers and healing thoughts. Devin is still listed as 'critical' but the doctors are now 'optimistic'. He had a lot of surgery friday - 8 hours with the neurologist and then 4 more hours with the 'maxilofacial' (sp?) - that's the doctor that repairs faces. I won't go into the graphic details but basically the middle of his face was crushed. But the doctors think that there's no permanent spinal damage and - the one time he was awake - he recognized his mother and sister. Hopefully he'll be able to come back to the U.S. by Christmas.
His father (my brother-in-law) also had surgery friday. He now has four pins holding his pelvis together. We're hoping that he'll make it back to the U.S. by Christmas also.
Thanks for all the good wishes. They're much appreciated.

Barbara, I was just thinking about you and that little boy and his dad. I am so glad to hear that things are looking up a bit. I hope they can both be home[at least back in the States] by Christmas, that would be a great gift for Devins mother. Thank you for the update. Will continue to send healing thoughts and wishes.

Bless that litle boy.
And thanks for the doctors and specialists who will help him recover and regain some of what he lost.
The news sounds so much better but I'm sure everyone will continue with the thoughts, prayers, and good wishes!

That's good new's. I'm sure the whole family is looking forward to Christmas with Devin and his dad. It will make such a difference just to have them home.
I'm sure expenses are mounting up. I don't know about insurance coverage in another country, but I'm sure they have expenses beyond that. Is there a fund set up? Is there some way we can help to make their Christmas even better?

Excellent idea chococake!
I'm so glad to hear that there doesn't appear to be spinal damage. Have been and will continue to pray for you all.
