Is there a way to find birth records on the internet, say for someone born in 1999? And if so, where would one search?

FrannyS, it depends on the state. Some are online and accept credit cards. Others accept credit cards but you still have to wait forever for the birth certificate.
There isn't anything online where you can view the actual birth records of someone born in 1999.

Can you request birth or death certificates on-line for some states now? Do you know which ones or where I could find them? This would come in handy with the geneology search. So far you have to reqest it in person last I heard (which admittidly was about 10 years ago)

oddish, I haven't done any searches on the web, but I think people have always been able to request copies of birth certificates via a written letter to the county Registrar of Births and Deaths in the county of birth. You would have to enclosed the appropriate fee for their issuance of a certified copy.
I believe some counties have that address and fee information online so that you know where to write to, and how much the check should be, in order to request the certificate. I really dont' know if some counties will also let you request it and pay for it online, sure seems logical.

oddish....New York does allow birth certifs to be aquired/paid for online (we just went thru this to get my sister a copy)...however, you do need all the info that is on the certif...eg. Parents names, child name, place/date of birth....Seems like a pretty painless process if you have all the info (unfortunately, my sister DID not!)....Sorry, I don't have the website, but I'm sure it isn't too hard to find, if "I" managed to find it!....

Since my local paper is online, I figured it would be in ANNOUNCEMENTS, but alas, nope. Guess I will have to go look at past issues and see if I can run across it that way. I didnt know if public records would be available online, somewhere, and thats what I was hoping for. I know the fathers full name and birthdate, and the Mothers maiden name, but not her birthdate. The child was born in 1999, I think. Anyway..thanks for the help
