While Dick Cheney, obviously still weakened, pale and worn, handles the media, announces cabinet selections, and all. Actually seems like a president to be.
GW is "contemplating" on his ranch. He went there because, they said, "He finds the bustle at the Governor's state house too tiring".
Awww. Does he know that the presidency can't be delegated?
Maybe they couldn't get him to stay down for his nap.

I think it is because Cheney doesn't have that "Deer caught in the headlights" look that both Bush and Gore do. He is also very well spoken and unflapable.

For the same reason that they used to keep the idiot kings locked away while the Regent went about the business of ruling the Kingdom.

Yeah. Am I the only one who thought while watching his teleprompt speech that he actually appeared to be shrinking right before my eyes?
Someone said that his blinks are morse code for "mommie, please don't let the teleprompter break", but I have a hard time believing that he could memorize morse code.

To sequester him from half-witted people who ask half-witted questions while he prepares to lead the nation with more than his mouth and a pimple for a brain.

Sarge, the pimple is on his cheek, but if you say he's got one on his brain, you're probably right.
As far as "sequestering" goes, we're not the only ones to wonder about that. Some comment about it is being made in the news, both print and television. And it's not looking good for him.

If he's not holed up at the ranch, a reporter might ask him a question and that could be problematic because he would be expected to answer.

Kept away even from halfwit republican advisors, it seems, except for his nannie, Ms.Hughes.
They're getting anxious for him to step down as Governor in Texas, which you'd think he'd gladly do. Seems that the lt. gov. in Texas carries the biggest hammer in the state, and there are quite a few looking to have that job when the current one is moved into the Governor job. But Miniversionofhisdaddy won't step down.
Probably knows he'd never get the job back.

Oh sure. There have been.
But GW seems lost, because he isn't consumed enough with nailing down and planning his presidency. The grown-ups keep sending him off to play. They know he doesn't like messes, he doesn't do serious well and he can't do follow-up answers except to refer reporters to James Baker.
During that speech he really seemed to struggle to exude authority. He furrowed his brow, trying to look more sagacious, but he ended up looking as if he needed to be burped.

Who has been announced and for what positions? I've heard lots of speculations by the press and both candidates are meeting with candidates but obviously I missed the announcements. Please provide more information as I am very interested in appointments by both parties.

Do you think GW is aware that he will have to physically move off the ranch (gasp!) to DC if declared President?
It was mentioned on one of the shows that he can't sleep (noisy) at the Governor's Mansion.
And if he can't sleep at the White House...?

Why do they keep GW Stashed on the ranch?
Even Edgar Bergen (Republican Party) stashed Charley and Mortimer (GW) at the end of a gig.

Maybe GW is staying out of the public eye so Gore can make himself so visible people will get tired of him. I lost count on how many appearances Gore made in the last 2 days. If a politician calls his chances 50/50 what does that really mean?

eyeguy,
Hate rhetoric is exclusively the domain of the republican right wing whacko fanatics. They're repetitive as if they are chanting a mantra, apparently brainwashed (see above) over that small portion of brain that they were endowed with, and as unreliable and boorish as fans of TV wrestling galas are.
(has anyone ever known a right wing boorish whacko fanatic who was NOT a republican?)
You should hope for democratic bidders.
