I was bored this afternoon and decided to check out some other auction sites. On one of them, I found several items that were being "raffled", as in, buy a ticket for $2.00 for a chance to win XXX. Is this legal?? Anyone here ever done it (if it is legal)? Anyone here ever bought a ticket? Just curious as to what you all think about this.

Check out BidBay. There is a scooter, a TV/VCR and a computer being auctioned-raffled. I thought raffles were illegal, or at least a NoNo.

Hi Msmas,

As far as my understanding of various auction sites' User Agreements go, auctioning off "chances" for things/money *is* a no-no. My reference above was to a colorful character who used to "sell" lottery tickets coast-to-coast on eBay. However, my mention of him was a lame attempt to draw krs into this thread...
