Perhaps I should change my name to SilkChrysalis, yes I should, because I am obviously living in a cocoon.

I've only heard two of the songs mentioned. And only heard OF four of the artists.

edited to add: three songs. I missed the mention of Amazing Grace the first time round.

not SilkMoth anywhere but here

1. Chain of Fools - Aretha Franklin
2. I can't stop loving you - Ray Charles
3. Dream Weaver - Gary Wright?

I can't pick just one, that's impossible!

Could anyone have just one favorite song?

After consideable thought.....right now, at this particular moment in time it is:

Nessun dorma from Turandot

Tomorrow I'm thinking it might be "Down by the River" by Neil Young.

Nessun dorma from Turandot

Excellent choice, one song that never fails to give me goose flesh.

My favorite:

Ralph Vaughan Williams' "Fantasia on a Theme of Thomas Tallis"

I'm torn between; Simple by Collective Soul and; N.S.U. by Cream on the Live Cream Album/CD.

Either song is best heard with the volume turned way up.

TENNESSEE BIRD WALK sung by Jack Blanchard & Misty Morgan

If you'd like to listen to this gem, go to: http://hitcomedy.com/index.html?http://hitcomedy.com/act/demento/TennesseeBirdWalk.html

Otherwise, here are the lyrics:

Take away the trees and the birds
All have to sit upon the ground, uum
Take away their wings and
The birds will have to walk to get around
And take away the bird baths
And dirty birds will soon be ev'rywhere
Take away their feathers and
The birds will walk around in underwear
Take away their chirp and the
Birds will have to whisper when they sing
And take away their common sense and
They'll be headed southward in the spring

Oh remember my darling
When spring is in the air
And the bald headed birds
Are whisp'ring ev'rywhere
You can see them walking
Southward in their dirty underwear
That's Tennessee Bird walk

How about some trees so the birds
Won't have to sit upon the ground, uum
How about some wings so the
Birds won't have to walk to get around
And how about a bird bath or two
so the birds will all be clean
How about some feathers so their
Underwear no longer can be seen
How about a chirp so the birds
Won't have to whisper when they sing
And how about some common sense so they
Won't be blocking traffic in the spring

Oh remember my darling
When spring is in the air
And the bald headed birds
Are whisp'ring ev'rywhere
You can see them walking
Southward in their dirty underwear
That's Tennessee Bird walk

Like A Rock
{Words and Music by Bob Seger}

I Stood there boldly,
Sweatin' in the sun.

Felt like a million,
Felt like number one.

The height of summer,
I'd never felt that strong.

Like a rock

I was eighteen,
Didn't have a care.

Working for peanuts,
Not a dime to spare.

But I was lean,
and Solid everywhere.

Like a rock

My hands were steady,
My eyes were clear and bright.

My walk had purpose,
My steps were quick and light.

And I held firmly,
To what I felt was right.

Like a rock

Like a rock, I was strong as I could be
Like a rock, nothin' ever got to me
Like a rock, I was something to see
Like a rock

And I stood arrow straight,
Unencumbered by the weight,
Of all these hustlers and their schemes.

I stood proud, I stood tall...
High above it all...
I still believed in my dreams

Twenty years now,
Where'd they go?

twenty years...
I don't know

I sit and I wonder sometimes,
Where they've gone.

And sometimes late at night,
When I'm bathed in the firelight...
The moon comes callin' a ghostly white.
And I recall,
Yea I recall.

Like a rock. standin' arrow straight
Like a rock, chargin' from the gate
Like a rock, carryin' the weight
Like a rock

Lihe a rock, the sun upon my skin
Like a rock, hard against the wind
Like a rock, I see myself again
Like a rock

Sincerely (when sung by the McGuire Sisters) is my all time favorite.

When A Man Loves A Woman (when it's sung by Percy Sledge) comes in a very close second.

Rawbunzel, bagpipes, now there's a version of the song I haven't heard before. Must be moving though if it makes you cry. It's quite a song with a lot of meaning for me, always been a favorite.

If we can talk about songs that make us cry, that's fertile territory for more song titles.

Two songs that always make me cry:

Theme song from City of Angels by Sarah MacLachlan, the title is something like In the Arms of an Angel.

A song featuring Bono and Placido Domingo done at a benefit concert, called Miss Sarajevo I think. Placido Domingo sings some opera excerpts interwoven into U2/Bono's song, always makes me cry.

The song from the Karate Kid II by Peter Cetera. Don't ask me the name.

I just realize I don't know the name of any songs I like. "Lord won't you buy me a Mercedes Benz" I love that one too.
Moon Shadow.

A bagpipe story:
We had a member of a group I belong to pass away two years ago. He was well loved and well know by the group because of the cartoons he used to do for our monthly publication.
At an event soon after his death one of our members decided to do a bagpipe tribute to him.
So here we all our in medieval costumes sitting in the dark in tears after someone read a touching tribute to him. Suddenly out of the darkness comes the distant sound of a bagpipe. Only I think the guy playing the tribute was as choked up as we were because the sounds coming out of that bagpipe were unfit for human consumption. I had my head in my hands to hide the fact that I was crying at first but then I had to get up and leave the group to hide the fact that I was cracking up.
It was a fitting tribute to a cartoonist, he would have loved it.
