Hello everyone,
The entire Moderation Team wishes you all a happy holiday season, and we decided to have our Christmas party right here in the Message Center! All the members of the Mod Squad who will be working over the holiday will be joining in.
We hope you will join us. Post your favorite holiday memory, or the best gift you ever received, or your favorite holiday song, whatever you'd like. (Within the CGs, of course.
Last year's "A Tree for All" is the inspiration for this thread, and we hope you'll share the holiday spirit with us.
Pat
Thanks to Michelle and Joice for the new gifs.

pattaylor -
Last year's tree for all was so spectacular! Those were good days, despite the bickering, weren't they?
I'll add a little something to the tree here. A lighted angel (no flashing, for crying out loud) for the top of our tree. In hopes she can light our way.
And the "In Memory" thread is going - inspired by last years "Candle" thread. All are welcome there, too.
Happy Holidays to all the moderators and posters here. I've missed ya'll.

Hello again everyone,
I'll be going off duty in an hour or so, and I'd like to share one of my favorite Christmas memories before I leave. When our children were small they were always much too excited to sleep on Christmas Eve, waiting for Santa to arrive. I fondly remember their mother softly singing "Silent Night" to them until they finally drifted off to sleep. Of course, they would always wake us at 4 AM, asking "Has Santa come yet?"
They're all grown up now, with children of their own, but I still remember the peace that resonated throughout our house on those nights. The time we're give to cherish our children as "little ones" ends much too soon.
Thank heavens for grandchildren, who give us another chance to relive those days.
Happy holidays, everyone.

I have some lovely crystal bells for the tree, having trouble putting up the high ones though.
I'll leave the rest here at the base of the tree until someone taller comes along to help.
MERRY CHRISTMAS ALL

Hi everyone and happy holidays!
Like bitsandbobs, Christmas is all over bar the shouting in my little corner of the world. Here's how the "G' family spent the day.
MissG stayed up until almost midnight last night - far too excited to sleep. The upside - she slept late (well late for her anyway ). After squeals of "Oh Kewl" greeting each package this morning and paper flying, mother and daughter then spent an hour trying to figure out which decals went where on Barbie's new Motorhome while MisterG cranked up the CDs and made breakfast (fresh croissants plus mangoes, cherries and crisp green grapes).
Off to spend the day with my italian in-laws (which is not really such a chore). Stuffed to the gills with antipasto, homemade parmesan filled ravioli (made in the wee small hours this morning) and salad followed by cake, crostoli, rumballs and espresso - a dip in the pool to cool off after lunch. Normally we'd spend the rest of the evening indulging in a couple of bottles of red but duty calls this year so here I am, pitifully sober.....
Just a quiet Christmas evening planned tonight while I'm working - a couple of Christmas movies, a few fresh prawns if anyone feels peckish and another Christmas over for us. Of course, because I'm working the main gig tomorrow I get to celebrate all over again with the AW family.
I wish you all much happiness and hope your holiday is as stress-free as mine has been.
Michelle
P.S. and a special thank you to the AW PTB for that holiday "compensation"!
*edited because the big guy in the red suit is obviously exhausted after the haul he left at my house last night and is reluctant to appear in my post...

We have a blended family with three teenagers, 14, 17, and 18. The older two work. The 18 year old had to work Christmas eve and the 17 needed to go to his mom's on Christmas day. The 14 year old goes to her father's every other Christmas, but this year she is with us!
Every year Christmas is different. This year we did Christmas on Christmas eve afternoon. Paul had a wonderful idea of a treasure hunt type of thing. He videotaped the whole thing as each person read the clue to finding the gift and running through the house to get it.
Not the traditional Christmas, but we're not the traditional family, either.

Good morning and Happy Holidays to all!
With no small children in the family, it's fairly quiet around our house this morning. Our daughter and son-in-law are here and it has been a wonderful family weekend. This evening we'll have turkey and dressing with all the trimmings and as tomorrow is our daughter's birthday, I'll be baking a cake too. I hate to think of the pounds I've added these past few weeks.

Happy Christmas morning to all!
We had a wonderful Christmas eve. Big dinner with Polish food that I spent hours making. But, I only do it for Christmas, so it's very special. Then a call to Texas so we can all talk to my mom I wish she could be here. Then dessert that my daughter-in-law made.
Lastly the presents and the joy of watching my grandson open presents. He's 2 1/2 now and really aware for the first time of the tree and of course the presents.
Today I relax and loved my lemon pie with whipped cream for breakfast. The dog has buried all her holiday doggie cookies for future digging up and eating.
The kids go to dinner at my ex's (he was here last night too.) Divorced for over 30 years but best friends. I don't think I'll go, too tired.
So that is my Christmas, and it was great to come here and see this thread from the mods. It's a wonderful day!

Pat, thanks for trying to cheer me up....
.... glad you are enjoying the new term the 'Mod Squad' you should use that theme in the background
(are you are giving me the gesture with the finger in your first post....?)
I was beginning to HATE christmas!
cashiers were rude, pple taking my parking spot from the wrong side of the road, find out that the pair of shoes I brought were BOTH lefties, shoveling a very looooong path from my house, driving home in the dark while it's snowing, and....family's all ill
where to escape from all this?
I come here to check everyone's posts out.
have a good, safe season and new year everyone!

Peersonally, Im glad its over . The kids are grown and gone, but the dogs are still here and they made it most enjoyable, like kids themselves, chasing their new wiggly gigglie balls all around the room, opening their packages of snausages and bacon strips, squeeking their squeaker balls....in short, they made it SEEM like the kids were still here

Merry Christmas everyone! A special thank you to other moderators for covering for me this Holiday so we as a family can make it easier for Dad. It's our first Christmas without Mom.
We are all gathered in Southern California and we had our big Christmas meal last evening. We each did our own specialty (mine being the turkey) and made tons of food so we could pig out on left overs today!
The little ones had a "real" visit from Santa yesterday afternoon and were very excited to see him leave to start his journey over the lands to deliver parcels.
We just got back from the pier, what a great day. It's a year for us to all realize how important we are to each other, as a family.
Oh, must go. A baby needs this room to nap
Happy Holidays everyone and stay safe! No time to edit!

I see I'm late as usual I've been offline enjoying the holiday with my family and giving them my undivided attention (yes, it's been rough ).
I just wanted to add a belated Merry Christmas to everyone and you all are invited to share in one of the 25 mini loaves of sweetbread or over 20 dozen of cookies I finally cranked out of my toaster oven!

I am late as always but I can see that you have all had a wonderful Christmas and I am glad.
I expected Santa to give you each the gift to be able to read all our minds and this would make all your jobs so much easier.
Maybe next year.
A worn out frizzle frazzled granny who doesn't want to see her kitchen for the next month wishing all of you a belated Merry Christmas.
You would think with 365 days notice that Christmas is coming I could be on time.
I know in another life I had to have been born rich and had maids to do all this work. Thank goodness for daughters!
