My wife presented me with the most amazing gift on 1/2/2001. I'll never receive anything that will compare to it, a daughter. Normally a person my age would be celebrating the birth of a grandchild. I had abandoned thoughts of being a father many years ago. It would be impossible for me to type the feelings that have flooded my mind over this event.

Awesome for you! I think it is great to have children later in life. You have a lot more patience and you appreciate them much more than when you are younger.
What an incredible thing for you!!! Great start to your New Year!

uaru,
While you may think you were unable to type your feelings, trust me, those feelings came through loud and clear in your post.
Congratulations to you and Mrs. uaru.

She makes me just want to pinch her chubby little cheeks.
Very pretty baby for a newborn they usually look all wrinkled and old to me.I am so happy for you.
This Christmas one of my friends Dad was playing with the grandchildren and said,"Children are wasted on the young".
I think quite ofton he is right.
To be given such a gift when you are mature enough to appreciate it and wise enough to know it's worth is very special.

Congratulations!
I have an aunt and uncle who waited 24 married years to have their daughter. I've seen their emotions and their happiness. I'm so happy for you and your wife!
Looks like you've got a good one! All the best...

Congratulations, uaru!
I was 41 when my son was born. I too, had given up on the idea. Even began practicing chasing the neighbor kids off the lawn (Yeah, I'm keepin' the damn ball! ). I think you'll find that it makes you feel younger. Good luck and welcome to the club.
BTW, hope you're not too attached to getting a good night's sleep.

Congratulations uaru!
Seems like only yesterday mine were babies, now they are in undergrad & grad school. I miss it.
Please give her lots of love, lots of books, and as many new experiences as you are able to give! And it wouldn't hurt to start reading to her today if you haven't already, she will love it!

How cool! Awfully healthy looking little thing!
BTW-
My dad was 54 when I was born and I was his first child. People would always ask if I was his granddaughter and boy, was he proud as a peacock when he told them I was his DAUGHTER!!

My thoughts exactly just over a year ago. Words are so totally inadequate at such a moment....
If you haven't already, get yourself a digital camera and a camcorder. There is nothing like keeping a photo journal of the little gift as she becomes a person before your very eyes...
