Hi ballsandstrikes.....snow only appears to be white because of refracted light within the frozen water crystal.

P.S. I wish the white stuff would go south for awhile!!

We're taking bets around here on when the big pile of snow down in the Kroger parking lot is going to melt. I put in a bet for April 15... Easter.

SNOW MELTS?? Just had 600' of our drive plowed again yesterday. Still crunching through one and a half to two feet of the white stuff the rest of the way in. Overnight lows are still in the single digits and barely reaching 32* as a high. I haven't been warm since Nov. 19th when we got the first snowfall of the winter. Haven't seen bare ground until a couple days ago when the earth showed under a few trees! Gardening books and seed catalogs are keeping me going... Oh Spring, where for art thou?
