...of being armed.
Little more can reasonably be aimed at with respect to the people at large than to have them properly armed.
The great object is that every man be armed. Everyone who is able may have a gun.
No free man shall be debarred the use of arms.
The Constitution shall never be construed to authorize Congress to prevent the people of the United States, who are peaceable citizens, from keeping their own arms.

Right behind ya KRS (WOW..did I really type that!?!?)
I have had weapons around me since I was a toddler...unlocked, in the closet, and NEVER had the urge to walk in and start shootin folks...knew where the ammo was too.

Og have big stick. Make Og feel secure.
Finest thinking of the eighteenth century, krs.
Heinlein was demonstrably wrong about this and much else. Such things happen when you believe what your groupies and your brain tumor tell you.
and Keith, what is your point about your proximity to guns and ammo as a toddler? I mean, really, no offense, but so what?

Guns suck until you're face-to-face with a carjacker or a rapist without one.

If you want to be able to act against tyrany of government it will take a lot more now days than a couple rifles and pistols.
The Palistineans right now are on the edge of war with Isreal and they have very little more than that and I think they are nuts to be courting an open conflict with planes and tanks.

zilvy,
Don't you mean full-auto weapons? Or don't you even know what you're talking about?
Five shots-100 yds, 6ppc .243" bullet diameter.

Oh, did the NRA shoot you? Must have been one of those hunters with a minute-of-deer accuracy rifle.
Or was it a criminally intent person who wouldn't obey any law or restriction in any case, and is thus in effect immune from your silly bans and definitions. Semi-auto is simply a loading system, as harmless in itself as electric windows on a car.

Oh, and because of this you think that banning all guns is the answer?
You know this guy?
"Germans who wish to use firearms should join the SS or the SA. Ordinary citizens don't need guns, as their having guns doesn't serve the State." - Heinrich Himmler

You must be using your Superman X-ray vision
in any part of my posts did I state
Ban Guns??? you are reading between the LIONS!!
Ban Stupidity, and watch out for power
windows....
when hurling your invective statements, unless
they are bullet proof (not your words, the windows) you could wind
up with an opposing view between the eyes.
So when did you move from Tiburon??
By the way, just as an aside, when was the
last time someone pulled the trigger on an
electronic window and left someone bleeding
on the ground?? Just a thought!

Don't want to get between you two with your flamethrowers but this statement -
And kevlar for all
I agree but if you go try to buy this purely defensive item you will find considerable opposition from government. It is illegal in California to buy body armor if you have been convicted of a felony. Sellers will make you prove you are able to legally own firearms to buy from them and try to get rid of you id you are not a policeman or security guard.
I get the impression that government thinks they have a basic right to shoot you and armor might interfer.

Bush should have written into his budget a direct tax credit for the purchase of all firearms. That would be a positive first step in addressing the problems of an underarmed citizenry.
