I just finished copying all my auctions, deleting all my pictures, and unsubscribing to the newletter
What a weird feeling. Kind of like when I left home.
I won't be unregistering because I don't want someone else using "my" name.
It was fun while it lasted.

I know what you mean~ I'm not going to "unregister" either... just in case someday I do want to come back. BUT, I'm having such a blast listing auctions now... it's like a renewed excitement in my little eBay world! I am making my own backgrounds and using my server to host the pictures. I feel like I did back when I discovered AW and found that I could make "pretty" auctions! I've had regular customers of mine tell me that my new auction look is great!!!! That makes me happy because I did it myself!

I've never used AW or any 3rd party service for hosting my pictures or launching my auctions. I prefer my independence.
I think I know how you feel though - similar to how I've been feeling the last three or four months at no longer using eBay as my primary auction site. I list there occasionally, but it feels strange... I'm glad to be independent of eBay though.

Yep. And pretty soon my little cat will be gone because it will be too expensive to board her here anymore. As much as I like the message boards it won't be the same without her.

It appears that AW is not considering that the preliminary closing of auction managing accounts, although (possibly) subtle at this time, is a writing on the wall, an indicator of things to (possibly) come?
If AW does begin to lose business -and advertisers, will they (AW) quietly eliminate the FVF percentage fee, act as though it (FVF) was a dream you had, and take for granted that the sheep will return wagging their tails behind them?
Have they considered that another hosting site may have a similar forum, or create one, and eventually will hold people to their site, never to return to AW, or to use AW as often as they once did.
If I recall correctly, aren't the number of visits and posts occurring in the forums factored in as an indicator of popularity of the site, a number that advertisers pay close attention to?

Yes Muriel, I'll miss that too it was fun. I used to only come to this board but I've been branching out the last couple of weeks. I had to find someplace I could take my cat to.

december3 - I miss your kitty. Doesn't she have a new place to live? If she's homeless, she could take a catnap in my web space.

SgtMike: The downturn in the economy has really hit dot.com companies which depend on advertising as their main source of revenue. For example, 90% of Yahoo's revenues last year came from advertising. Last week the company announced that its revenues this quarter will be dramatically below street estimates (the CEO is being replaced).
