You know, some Christian church groups love to see what new movies are coming out and banning them from their congregation. Still others like to walk picket lines around the theaters where the movie is showing. And it's not always some version of the life of Jesus that they don't approve of, it can be just about anything:
TV Shows:
Masters of the Universe - "There's only One Master of the Universe!"
My Little Pony, The Smurfs, and probably any other mystical or magical TV show or film that can capture a child's imagination and send them soaring.
So what about this new Harry Potter movie coming out this year? What about the new Lord of the Rings Trilogy of films? Can we expect to see the Faithful picketing in the snow and cold rain at the box-offices? And if they do, would it matter to you?

I doubt there will be picket lines, but there will be churches & families who will condemn the Harry Potter film--just as they do the books (usually without ever having read them!)
The fact that the Potter & LOTR movies are coming out *will* matter to me. I am already buying more copies of both. I expect the demand for the books to increase (amazing in the case of Potter that it *could* increase) when the films come out.
And I expect to have to listen to even more people tell how "terrible" they think the books must be (even though they haven't read them themselves.) I hope, however, that I will not have to endure another book rep's prejudice...recently I canceled a substanial order with a book rep when I discovered that his company *had* the Potter books in Spanish but that he hadn't told me about them because "he was a Christian and his pastor told him they were wicked and evil." When the president of the company called me, concerned because of the cancelled order, I told him I wouldn't deal with a company whose rep's tried to dictate what I can buy for my library because of their personal prejudices...and if this guy hadn't told me about the Potter books, what *other* titles had he held back just because *he* didn't approve of them?!?
I HATE it when people try to dictate what others may or may not read, see, or discuss.
