I recently purchased an item on eBay & due to the fact that my business name kinda infers a rehab for animals (didn't realize that when I started the biz, 4 years ago, but get lots of inquiries when buying/selling on eBay) a seller requested some information regarding her horse. I know there are some good horse folks on this board, and thought that perhaps one of you could offer some advice...Here's the question that was posed to me "My horse fractured her elbow- now 6 months later she is still not using her leg.. Going for new xrays to see how the healing is going..Any experience with breaks? Any comments would be appriecitated
I will forward your responses, indicating that I received them from AW...As always, thanx for your help

Hi rancher - It almost sounds like a joke question to me.
If a horse breaks a leg, it usually has to be put down because horses stand on them most of the time and they don't get a chance to heal properly.
If it was a hairline fracture, these could be bandaged with Vet-wrap or even surgical pins, but you would still end up with a lame horse.
That's why the only horses saved are usually prize winners (for sperm or breeding). You could never ride a horse that's broken a leg because of the possibilty of it breaking again.
And they waited 6 months to get another x-ray? Sounds fishy. 6 weeks maybe.

Zilvy - thanx for the bump!
Kraftdinner - Maybe she was pullin' my leg (no pun intended!)....Her question was just as I posted it above, (I've been around long enough to know NOT to even think about trollin' a thread) & my medical horse knowledge is limited, but I always thought that you had to put down a horse with a broken leg.....Thanx for your input....

Kraftdinner...NOT a problem!!.. ..I didn't even notice that she (the source/seller) might be kiddin' til I read your response.(of course at that point I felt kinda DUH! - they got me!)..&...I just wanted to make sure (before all the lovely little troll pix came flyin' at me) that it was understood that I was sincere (albeit perhaps a bit naive) in my attempt to get some advice for this person....
