Friday's smile:
Knight-Ridder News Service story in this morning's paper talked about Dubya's propensity to use "good man" as his all-purpose adjective. "He's a good man." Says it about everyone who isn't Hitler.
One day last fall Bush, sharing the stage with Gov. John Engler and his wife, Michelle, said: "Laura and I are proud to call John and Michelle Engler our friends. What a good man the Englers are."
Does he *listen* to himself? Ever? Three years and three months to go. . . .

He has been right up front in making fun of himself for the way he butchers the English language.
Couldn't find anything having to do with Politics or policy to pick on?

His handlers have decided that self-effacing is the way to go, ever since their failed attempt to explain what he meant while speaking about North Korea and treaties a while back. So that means there's no reason to talk about it? Personally, I find it really sad that he can't seem to work his way through most compound sentences. And I'd be a lot more worried about it if he was actually the chief executive in anything but name.

meya & gaffan......ahahahahahh!
Doesn't it make you wonder if he's not doing this all on purpose? I mean, his bad grammar is so obvious that it almost seems like he's trying to be "one of the guys"......"an average joe", a "see, I fit right in with you's guys" type guy.
He reminds me of a kid in a candy store.....he's so overwhelmed with all the candy that he's trying everything. He's got no idea what to try next, so he just spins around the room trying to grab what he can.
I'm sure he's a nice, moral man, but it takes intellegence to run a country, at the very least!

You can't judge intelligence strictly on how someone is able to put a sentence together. Many educated intelligent people struggle in that area.
Many intelligent people also struggle with spelling. That in itself doesn't fully reflect their intelligence.

I don't think he's really nice...
But guess what!
Yesterday I actually heard him NOT flub a whole paragraph and he used "big" words too like "technical" and "administration" - and the like (I don't remember it all because I was trying hard to ignore him but one was a REALLY big word)...
Amazing - guess he studied up or something...
Still, I'm not impressed...
Really I just jumped in here because I spotted my brother...
Gaaaaafffffaaaannnnn!!!
Where'd you hide my pillow?
Oh, and hi and hi to various and sundry and good to see you too...
What is wrong with this darn thing? Why won't my post post? Trying again, if it's a double excuse me...

Actually, I was wrong--it's three years and 8 months to go.
Here's another (GW on CNN in September):
"There is book smart and the kind of smart that helps do calculus. But smart is also instinct and judgment and common sense. Smart comes in all kinds of different ways."
Yikes.

How true about bad grammar, spelling, etc., not having anything to do with intellegence, but the intellect usually shines through the grammar mistakes.........I find that part missing with Bush.

Bush, the Moral Waffle Iron, is now trying to become Eco-Friendly. Shocked conservatives as well as liberals really put off by his anti-Environment-pro-Pollution stance. So his Keepers told him to back-paddle a bit on some [i]very[]/i] minor points. Conservatives are all signing in releif, but progressives and liberals are still worried that it doesn't mean squat.
"Fool me once-shame on you!
Fool me twice-shame on me!
Fool me all of the time -
call me a conservative!"

Einstein's English might not have been perfect because he was German and came to America as an adult.

IS? How appropiate. At least he hasn't shown a propensity to make up definitions;
" It depends upon what the meaning of the word is means. If is means is, and never has been, that?s one thing. If it means, there is none, that was a completely true statement."

I'm listening to the audiobook of Daddy Bush's "letters" book (sorry, don't have it right in front of me for the exact title), and when he read the following about George W.--from a letter written BACK THEN when George W. was AGE 4, I started laughing so hard, thinking "it's still true!" that I had to stop the tape:<P>
<b>"He tries to say everything, and the results are often hilarious."</b><p>
So you see, this is not a new problem for him! [Where do all you people get these colored & animated smiley gifs from that you stick in here?]

[OK, my simple smiley turned into a fancy one, which I wasn't expecting, but I WAS expecting the HTML to work on the bold & paragraphs--if you're not using HTML to accomplish those things, what ARE you using?]

Hey, that spin2 is cool! 8-)
I apologize for this being off topic, but how did you know about it, where did you find it? What's "UBB"? Are these codes basically similar to HTML but using the brackets [] instead of <>?

OMG, that "thread" is long enough to go around the world! Thanks, though, now I know how to do smileys . I had fun until I got bleary-eyed . And until I tried to post & it froze & took 3 tries to go thru . I never did figure out how to get that hand to grab .
But I'd still like a good source for the UBB code if there's more to it than just bold and italics. A couple of the links in that thread didn't seem to go where they were supposed to or didn't work at all.
