LOS ANGELES-- In a gala, chimp-studded
affair at the Shrine Auditorium, bananas
swept the Primates' Choice Awards for the
42nd year in a row Monday, winning such
categories as Best Food, Best Fruit, and
Best Dessert. "This year, as in so many
years past, bananas delighted and nourished
the primate world," said Dole CEO David
Murdock, who accepted the award for Best
Potassium Source on behalf of bananas. "It
is only fitting that we pay tribute in kind."
The fruit's sweep proved popular with the
3,200 simians in attendance, who shrieked
and jumped up and down in their seats each
time it was announced as the winner while a
photo of bananas was projected onto a giant

I lived in the tropics and where you plant one banana tree, next year you'll have them running rampant everywhere!
The REAL monkey business comes from that jerk that owns most of the banana exports from the western hemisphere (I can't recall his name at the moment). This guy is so Bill Gates greedy that not only does he want his bananas to dominate the Americas and such, but also Europe. Europe already has a great source of cheap bananas of good quality, but this guy wants to get rid of that source. The French put up a trade barrier against his imports, seeing as how once he dominates a market, the prices sky-rocket, they refused to bow to pressure.
So, with a HUGE PAYOFF to Clinton, he got the ex-pres to put pressure on European countries that had banana barriers to this guy. If you heard of Europen food imports being barrred from entering the USA, that's why! In fact, we STILL have a trade war with about half of Europe because of this one JERK who won't be satisfied with dominating the banana market in only 1/2 the world!
So, the next time that you bite into that banana, remember the corruption and greed that goes with every bite!
Now back to more normal channels of posting ...

Instead of biting into a banana, smoke one. Maybe it will lighten things up around here.

zilvy,
I've been wondering about the "walking"
bananna trees also. It may refer to the
way the trees grow together in a line...as
if walking.
That's just a guess.

Zilvy,HJW Ummmm. Hard to explain.
When a banana tree has fruited, the main tree is cut down leaving their "suckers".
These suckers grow to the side of the
parent tree. If you took a photo of a
plantation this year and then took another
photo in a couple of years, you would
see that the whole plantation has moved.

Thanks for explaining that. I've been looking for an answer, searching for walking
bananas and of course I found nothing.

Of course, you cannot keep leaving the
"suckers" say to the right side of the
parent tree all the time - they'd end up
walking straight into your neighbours
property! You alternate.

HJW, I must say this has been a day amongst days for me...mood swings, walking banana trees, smoking banana's, bouncing smilies....my face hurts from smiling and the only time that happened was my first experience in driving a high performance souped up Datzun 240Z back in the
70's. A good day all around especially considering how badly it all began for me in RL.

Must we stoop to such vulgar references to the bananna. We were being so well behaved.
First, Hepburn, you suggested smoking a bannana and now you are suggesting other
uses...totally offensive.
Now, Jlpiece was concerned about the cockroach and the Rhodendendron being flattened. Can't you take an example from
him and use your good brain on a higher plane.

Oooh, Miss helen, please don't faint, I promise to be good now and will not offend Miss Helen ever again tonight.
