I wonder about the...well, the truthfulness of the librarians quoted (or perhaps it just this site). I have been a librarian for almost 22 years now. For the past 3 or 4 years the Internet has been a part of the library I work in. And never in all that time has any child asked me to find pornography for them on the Net. None of the other librarians in out regional system has reported having any such thing happening, either. I have yet to see sexually aroused men engaging in lewd conduct while sitting at our computers. Seeing that our computers for adult use are out in the middle of a public area that is not surprising. And as for kids...well I can tell you that they *aren't* zooming to porn sites on library computers--instead they lust for Pokemon, Dragonball Z, the World Wrestling Federation, and various rock stars. You could buy a new Jaguar with the money these kids waste printing out cheat sheets for computer games & Dragonball Z artwork in a single month! I did have to tell two boys to get off a site last week, but it wasn't a porn site--it was a site that showed close-up pictures of Chris Farley's body in situ (police photos, I think).

These librarians have an agenda. Next you will be hearing how they are upset because they have had to help people get access to
sexual information about abortion and birth control.
If someone is acting lewed I am sure if they do not have their own security people they can look up how to call 911 and get the police to remove the person (and probably get them charged also)
I suppose these same people will not take their children in a commercial book store where there are sections of books on sex and marraige and photography books that show nudes and sleezy situations. They probably have a hard time finding a grocery store that does not sell Cosmopolitan or some other corrupt publication. Just being in the same building would expose them to the porn virus.

The National Family Council is just another
faith based organization suppported by Ashcroft. In this case, the goal is to
control the library
Of course this is nonsense.
Another agenda that they are now pursuing is to control China.
The following is just one other "problem"
that they are working on.
Protestants are being arrested and tortured for holding prayer meetings, preaching, and distributing bibles without state approval.
The New York Times reports a new wave of religious persecution in southern China where "wall slogans" painted by the police read, "Catholics are not allowed to go to other areas and establish networks" and, "Get rid of all illegal religious gatherings and activities."
Roman Catholic priests and bishops are imprisoned and abducted for celebrating mass without official authorization.
There are reports of Chinese women being hung by their thumbs from wires while beaten with heavy rods, denied food and water and shocked with electric probes.

I don't know about China but I have a friend in New York whose Mother was refused entry to visit friends in Singapore because she had a Bible in her carry-on bag and it was considered contraband by the customs inspector. She was an American of Italian heritage. They put her back on the next plane back to Japan where she had entered from.

And you have to wonder just what kind of parenting these people are giving their children that they believe the kids will make a beeline for porn sites the minute they get access to the Internet! You have to wonder about the mindeset of these people in any case, that porn is the first thing that comes to their mind when they think of the Net.
