Since this story does not seem to be making the news where I live, I thought I'd take up some bandwidth and pass this information along and make you aware of the search for these two children. I apologize for being off topic, but it is possible that these two little girls could still be alive. I have verified this story to be true, and have provided a link to the current ABC news story on the search.
Authorities are looking for two missing children. Shaina Hensen is 2 years old and her sister Shausha is just 4 months old. They left Portland Oregon with their Mother and two adult acquaintances on April 5th. They traveled to California, and the girls haven't been seen since then. It's possible that you might have seen them or the adults they were traveling with, as the adult acquaintances apparently traveled across most of the southern US.
The girls' mothers body was found in Nevada on April 29th (but not identified until May 8th). Authorities found evidence that the two adult companions traveled thru Utah, Colorado, Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi and Florida, before they killed themselves in Naples, FL on April 20th in an apparent murder-suicide.
Authorities hold out hope that the girls may yet be found. I tried to find a good picture of the two little girls, but the only one I can find is in the abcnews story, near the middle of the page ...
You'll also find pictures of the people that the girls were traveling with on that page. The man they were traveling with was apparently the leader of a group of Satanists in Missouri, and satanic literature was reportedly found in the car in which the two adult acquaintances killed themselves in Florida, so it is possible that the girls disappearance is connected to those activities.
Anyone in the areas that they traveled through might have seen these adults or have other information that could lead authorities to the girls' whereabouts. Police say the girls could be anywhere between Oregon and Florida. If you have any information call the Portland Police at 503-823-3333.
Again, I apologize for being off topic, but I felt this information should be shared.

Shall the name of the forum be changed to reflect that it is now a missing person's bureau?
Without belittling the plight of these children, would it be appropriate to continue with a trend of reporting HERE what has presumably been reported sufficiently elsewhere through proper avenues? After all, ABC news has covered it.
Let's see, how man children go missing in the state of New York each day just to take one place? Anyone know? I'd bet that they number in the thousands. Perhaps we can find a way to download precinct police blotters from every burg in the nation so that ALL of the AW posters can come to the rescue.
as I said in my post, this story has not been extensively covered in the news, locally or nationally. In fact, when I checked earlier this morning I could find nothing about the case on CNN, CBSNews or MSNBC. I did find a small story, with no pictures, on two affiliate news station web sites - one in Florida and one in Nevada. And since the area in which these girls might be found is so large, I thought it might be of interest to some here on AW.
I checked the description of the message forums and believed that The Round Table was the appropriate forum in which to post my message - after all, it is described by AW as a place to kick back and share a story.
I apparently overlooked the information that only certain kinds of stories are allowed?
If you'd be so kind as to put a link to the page which reflects these rules I would
certainly appreciate it.

Nobody should just continue with their everyday business when children are missing. We should all stay home from work and search until they are found. If it disrupts the economy tough it for the children after all.

What a thoughtful idea, Gravid.
It hadn't occurred to me that people might be willing to stay home from work to search for missing children. I'm sure that others would also be touched by your thoughtful and generous gesture. Thanks for sharing what you're willing to do!

krs..I have a question for you. Why do you bother responding to these threads???? Why do you feel it necessary to put down what someone has to say????? Why do you feel it necessary to try to make someone feel like a piece of crap just for posting something here?? Gee....guess that was more than one question.
Actually, no response is required from you....I already know what it is.

KRS, I was attempting to be polite.
I checked to see which forum was appropriate to post my message because I normally post in the eBay outlook, which I knew would not be appropriate. This check led me to the Round Table, which I have never visited before. In reviewing the messages I did not see anything similar to the message I wished to post. Most stories appeared to be of a personal nature, asking for advice, prayers, etc. Since I do not know these girls, this is not a personal matter for me. In double-checking the description of the forums I found the description I mentioned above, a place to kick back and share a story, and I decided that the Round Table would be appropriate for sharing their story.
As I said, I believed that I was being polite and I apologized for my post being off topic and not about a personal issue or about anything connected to the internet.
Again, I would like to have the link that outlines which types of stories are not permitted to be posted to the Round Table so that I will have a reference to check if I ever wish to post another message in the future. I did a site search and found nothing. If you would be so kind as to post the link I would appreciate it. Thank you!

Ketzel...one thing you need to quit doing is calling this "off topic". Please. You are not "off topic" because you started this very important topic and each time you start a new thread it is a "new topic". You are not "off topic" and stop apologizing for that. There are some ppl. here that will pick you apart. You did a good thing. Janet
You can post anything you would like to post here; it is up to the MODERATORS to let you know what is permissible and what is not.

My post reads: "Shall the name of the forum be changed to reflect that it is now a missing person's bureau?".
It says nothing of any rule in place, though the issue has arisen before, and AW has addressed it by placing limits upon such postings. None of that can be brought forward as it has gone by purge into the nether.
Nevertheless, what would happen here if each and every like story, across the nation, or even around the worldd were brought here?
You neglected to bring forth that portion of the RT description which mentions "to have fun". Presumably that was a deliberate ommission or is this your idea of fun?

Just another example of your "moderator" skills, krs. Who are you to tell ppl. what they can post and not post?? If you don't like it, then just don't respond OKAY?????? There is no reason to try to make ppl. feel like crap; You ARE very predictable.
Ok..Moderator...do your thing to me. This is a good thread that was put down and should not have been. Anyone that does not like what is posted in the Round Table does NOT have to respond. Gee.. JMHO

No, this is not my idea of fun. Apparently we read the description of this forum differently. I read the description to mean that you could do any of those things. You read the description to be inclusive - a poster must kick back, relax, and have fun. No deviation from the prescribed actions allowed. Although we are writing in the same language, we apparently interpret that language differently.
I never suggested changing the name of the forum, nor do I believe that it needs to be changed. A Round Table is symbolic of a place where all can come and all are equal. I still believe that my post fits within the terms I have found outlined on this site.
I am willing to listen if you would like to share your story, tell a joke, write a poem, and make a friend -- It would be a challenge to have a friend as passionate and articulate as you appear to be, but well worth the effort, I'm sure.

Without responding to such personal and emotional outbursts, I'd point out that nowhere in any post have I "tell ppl. what they can post and not post??"

Since I've been here, I've only seen 3 or 4 posts like this......

In reviewing some recent threads, it's become apparent that you take issue with each other for one reason or another.
My recommendation is that you put each other on ignore, in order to avoid escalating the situation. No good will come out of continuing to interact like this!

Update on the case as reported on Channel 6 KOIN:
Authorities Call Off Search for Missing Girls
"PORTLAND, 10:25 a.m. PDT May 11, 2001 -- Authorities in Nevada have called off the search for two young Portland girls who have been missing for more than a month.
The father of Shaina Ashly Kirkpatrick 2, and 4-month-old Shausa Henson says that he has not given up hope that the girls will be found alive, despite the end of the official search."

One can only imagine the horror these little girls have endured! As a Floridian, I appreciate the info. I only wish I would have seen those SOB's! It's sad that the search has ended.
Need to Add:
Yes, usually the RT is a place to kick back. The heated political, religious, and social issue threads ~ are those relaxing? NOT!
Ketzel, this is as good a place to post as any! The irritation expressed is not that of this forum! (those less tolerant are referring to a missing person thread from last week). Thank you for coming in to join us, I apologize on behalf of those who are oblivious of their insulting manner. (no offense intended )
BTW, bite my tongue for even letting it cross my mind, BUT if my kids ever disappear, I would hope with all my heart that someone will post it here. AND, you can bet your *ss that many of those who see it will help in any way they can!
(in defense for the patrons of the table with a heart, unfortunately, YMMV)
MINT ~
you're post is over in the doggie thread

and now someone reads my thoughts, intentions, and makes false allegations against me??
