I too wish you all a wonderful day!!
May I share a story that just happened at Walmart this morning? I don't know why it just struck me so funny!! I have already purchased what I wanted to purchase for my mom and mom in law, but I thought, I have such a wonderful daughter-in-law, I will get her a card. OMG...I bet there were 50 men all lined up looking at the cards. I just burst out laughing and told them I had not seen that many men in one place since by "bar" days. Some laughed and some just looked at me like I am nuts and that is okay 'cause I am.

Poor, poor, Helen!!! Gads...I'm suddenly glad my nine year old has chicken pox and we couldn't spend the day with the inlaws.
I know it's not fair, but she is SOOOO not anything like my own mom was. In fact, she's pretty cold hearted. And I won't feed her here at my house anymore...haven't since about three months after we moved up here. Made a big birthday dinner for her, right down to homemade banana creme pie, and when she was done eating she pushed her plate away and said "well, that was different". HAH! After they left I told the hubby it would be a cold day in hell before I ever cooked for her again. And it has been.
(To be fair, she has thawed a lot since she got to know Miss Madeline. But I still ain't cooking for someone who thinks ketchup is a spice.)

Maddienicks, to be fair to your MIL, for anyone who thinks ketchup is a spice, your cooking might truly have been completely different. (Yummy - can I be your MIL? I like banana cream pie)
I grew up with a girl who didn't like lemon meringue pie. So, when it was on the menu one day, she put ketchup on it, thinking she wouldn't be made to eat it. WRONG!! She had to eat every bite of it. We kids thought it was hysterical, but we had to stifle it, or we surely would have felt the sting of a wooden spoon or palm of a hand.
I happen to think lemon meringue pie is one of the perfect foods and needs no improvement.
However, ketchup probably would make egg custard pie more palatable.

LOL! My poor MIL. Up here, food is cooked to death and ketchup is a staple. They eat it on every thing, and it is the main spice, I swear. I grew up in the Southwest, on green chile over everything from your eggs to your steak. I think garlic is better than salt. My FIL was eating like a starved man, mumbling about how good it was, etc. I think that was what pissed her off.
Shoulda seen her during the first Thanksgiving up here, when we had it at our house. She didn't like my turkey, or my stuffing, or my mashed potatoes. Good thing she brought the green beans and pie..she had something to eat!!!
