Ok everyone, I need some help here. This is day 3 of our a/c being on the fritz. The repair tech isn't due until tomorrow afternoon, you know, when our forecast is for 106. In the meantime, I need as many cool (as in temperature) and refreshing thoughts or images you can come up with to help me bear the heat! Thanks!

Seriously, I know you've thought of fans. I'm sure that's standard where you live, ceiling fans I mean. Have you ever thought of getting a small window A/C? Where you live, it may be good to always have as a backup unit. I had an aunt that used one for just the room she was in all the time, the bedroom. At least she could sleep that way at night. Good luck dealing with the heat.

If you have one of those soaking hoses with a drizzle hole every foot or so tack it along your roof line and run it every half hour for 5 minutes or so. Tou will be surprised how much it helps.

You guys are awesome! Love the pictures,
especially the mountain one. Those really help.
Mint, great suggestion, but I don't think
that would work with casement windows. This a/c
unit has died just about every summer since we bought
the house. We have a home warranty and like the first
year it died, the tech said to keep up the warranty
until they replace it because it won't last much longer.
Well, 3 years later they keep patching it up.
But we have hope we'll get a new a/c with a $35 copay
some year!
Gravid, another excellent suggestion! I said
something to Mom about it and she said, why didn't
I think of that? She used to water the roof in our
old house when I was a kid, it just had an evap and
it got miserable.
Speaking of evaps, I know this is going to sound
kinda dumb, but we do have one. We would turn it on,
but 1) we don't know how or what repairs it may need
2) we haven't used it since we've lived here so who
knows what kind of shape it's in. I know some parts
need replacing pretty regularly, but I wouldn't have
a clue. Besides, that would be dh's job since there's
pretty much no way you would get me on the roof!
(Yes, I have an extreme fear of heights. )
*Edited to add yes, we do have ceiling fans in almost every room and they've been going full bore for 3 days.

Cool pic Rancher24! (Pardon the pun )
Femme, margaritas can be wonderful or they can
taste yucky, depends on who makes 'em. I know
where to get the best strawberry margarita in town.
So if you ever find yourself out in Phoenix, give me
a holler and I'll tell ya where to find it.
The good news is it got fixed today, yay! I'm a
cool cucumber once again. Ok, now I really
need a shower, yuck!
