Hi, jt,
Calling the resignation of four local MS Democratic leaders a "major shakeup
of the party's hierarchy" is an exaggeration, in my opinion. The reporter
also fails to indicate the reason for the resignations.
Reporters get carried away sometimes along with the local party leaders.

They resigned, because they had personal conflicts with being in the party of killers like Gary Condit and the racist mayor of York Pennsylvania.

This is interesting...
From the article.
Harris has not resigned, but his position has hinged upon Levington serving as party chairman. Based on party rules, if the chairman is a white male then the executive vice chairman must be a black male.

JLPiece,
Party of killers ?
Seeing no smiley, I have to assume you were NOT being facetious.
I don't suppose the KKK had/have rascist Republicans among their membership?
As to the mayor of York...
To judge one based just on accusations is wrong. I refuse to do it, and so should you. Innocent until proven guilty works for me.
Also, one should not judge another based upon their beliefs when they were young and stupid. The mayor admittedly was rascist in the late 60's, but has become wiser with age.
It is possible. After all, even George Wallace was able to see the light when he grew older and wiser.
If the mayor is proven guilty, then he should pay the penalty.
BTW, who is Gary Condit?

Gary Condit just rumors and accusations at this point. But rumors on stories like this sell papers.

Just more silly political hyperbole. Kinda like Borillar implying Republicans were indecent and allied with Satan...

Thanks, uaru. His name didn't ring a bell, but I would have to be dead not to have heard of this case. I guess I wasn't paying attention.
Once again, jlpiece, innocent until proven guilty.
toke,
Are you telling me that Republicans are NOT
allied with Satan? I'm so confused. I just don't know what to believe.

Seven, in a week, Helen, not 4. It included 3 major positions.
I thought that little rule and surrounding comments in the article odd too. Levington is white. The paper that reported it is very racially objective.
I will be curious to read the possible forthcoming statments from those that resigned.
Mainly, I was just trying to balance the republican/democrat thread titles in this forum by one.

Yes, balance is good.
"Based on party rules, if the chairman is a white male then the executive vice chairman must be a black male."
I thought that was interesting too...no mention of a "female" chairman.
I will be checking to find out why
seven resigned.

I'm sure that the ravel of the entire national democratic party awaits the outcome of this petty mississippi squabble.
