A dear friend of mine won tickets to see Donny Osmond. She is taking me and two other Girl Scout leaders. Can you believe it? We have been acting like little kids ... But then, we have been in love with him since we were eight
For a few hours, we get our childhood back!
Anyway, my question is ... what is your dream concert? Living or dead, it doesn't matter ... it is all about the dream!

Hi Becky--
I am so glad you get to go. :0) That will be fun.
Mine would be Billy Joel. I just think he is so talented. I almost got to see him a few years ago, but I wasn't able to go. Hopefully he will go back on tour again and make it out to the west coast.
Anyway have a great time!
Vanessa

My dream concert would be Poe or the Doors or Joan Osborne or the Afghan Whigs. [email protected]
Caravaggio/confusedandsleepy are not my names at eBay.

Have fun, Mrs S.
Donny was excellent in the play "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Robe"
There were only 3 shows that I thought would be worth the trip to Las Vegas: Elvis, Ann-Margaret and Liberace.
Never got to Las Vegas, but did see Liberace in concert. The man was a genius.
Envious that Tinker got to see Billy Joel and Elton John in concert. That would have been a good one.
Very fortunate to have attended a Joe Williams club show not long before his death.
Because the club was small and we were late, we ended up in the first row of some seats that were placed on the stage, just a few feet from Joe. So close to his band, that when I crossed my legs, my foot hit the bass drum. With a red face, I apologized to the drummer. Hotter than hell under the stage lights, though.
Bunnicula, we like Leon Redbone, also.
Oops, forgot...Would like to attend a B.B. King concert, also.

MrsSanta, Christmas in June, eh????...And They Called it Puppy Love.....Hope you had a magical, timewarp time!!!...
My dream concert actually became reality a few summers back. Went to the Teen Idols tour and got to be 13 years old again seeing Bobby Sherman. LOVED him as a young teen, had the albums, the posters, the magazines....Glued myself to the TV for his shows (Here Comes the Bridges & Get Together)...He was amazing at the concert. THE nicest celeb I've seen in a long long time. He talked with the crowd, took pix with anyone who wanted to and was sooo kind and humble, and sooooooo cute....I was swoooonin'!!!....
Ashlandtrader...If Billy gets out of his "all they want is the oldies" snit and goes back on tour, beg/borrow/steal to get a ticket. It's worth it!!...Being a Long Islander, I've seen him many many times in concert and he's great. Warning: you will come home with a sore throat from singing, and will probably be hoarse for a few days, but you WILL enjoy it!!

Actually, my ultimate, ultimate music-related dream is, and has been, to attend the 4th of July Boston Pops concert at the Charles River.
I've suggested to my sister that we meet in Boston and attend the concert together. However, it hasn't happened, because it isn't her dream.
I've always said if I made it there, I would die happy.
I did attend the 4th of July Washington DC concert, but it wasn't the same. Did it once, wouldn't do it again. The rush to catch the Metro was frightening.

Hi Femme...
We're probably closer than you think... I think Pavarotti has the superior range and technique. I just like the warmth and richness of Domingo's voice. I like the way his face has been lived in, too... Pavarotti is the greater artist, though, IMO.

Becky - Congratulations!!! Enjoy, enjoy, enjoy!!!
We've been fortunate enough to have enjoyed many live concerts, the majority of which were country-western singers. But our all-time-favorites were the two Smokey Robinson and The Miracles ones we attended.

Rancher--
How cool! I saw your other long island post so I knew you were also a fan.
Last I heard he was dabbling in classical, but I haven't ever seen any of it recorded. Even that would be better than nothing. Throw me a bone, ya know.

A few wonderful concerts to catch if you get a chance:
STEELY DAN ~ (Incredible!)
NSYNC ~ (Don't laugh - one of the most creative concerts I have ever seen - bring your earplugs for the screams of all the little girls, though )
RUSH ~ (WOW!)
I am really enjoying the dream concerts - many neat suggestions!
Oh, to see The Beatles .....
My other dream concert was Elvis Costello and Nick Lowe. When it actually happened I just sat there in awe ... and I thought nothing would get me that excited again ....
See ya in Philly, Donny

ashlandtrader, yeah, it's a law on LI that you MUST be a BJ fan, right of passage of the teen years was to have seen him at least once at Nassau Col.LOL!!!....A few years back he started tinkerin' with the classics (he's formally trained in classical music) and well, did a few regular BJ tours, each one claimin' to be his last - HA!...Last I heard, couple of weeks ago according to a local DJ, was that BJ was focused more on the classics and annoyed that all the fans wanted was his older music. He's said that before, typically right before he starts a tour, watch for one!!!....&...sing til ya just can't sing anymore!
I've seen Battle and Norman on PBS...my knowledge ends right there.
I'm about 35 mi. from the Pops Concert...but the drive, and the parking are WAY too fearsome to me. You haven't SEEN traffic and congestion and killer drivers until you hit Boston...
I could maybe arrange something with friends for next year? Do you know Barry (Godzillatemple)? If you do, I'm confident it would be no sweat for him. He's a city guy...
You kind of need to camp out the night before, to get anywhere near the stage. All of this sounds like great fun to me...except the coming and going... The commuter train might be an option...
Poe was in Cleveland Sunday; did a free concert at a local bar and then opened for Depeche Mode at Blossom in the evening. I couldn't get to either performance BUT
I saw her in October when she did a mini-tour of Borders Book Stores with her brother Mark Danielewski.
She performed several songs, including the remix of Hey Pretty with the spoken word performance with her brother. It was awesome.
She stayed after and signed autographs for almost 2 hours. A very pleasant person.

In 1998, my son took me to a Rolling Stones concert it was a surprise. All he had told me ahead of time was "wear something cool". It was their "Bridges to Babylon" world tour. They were not even suppose to go to Houston originally but made it a last minute addition. I had waited since I was 14 to see them....it was worth the wait!!!! They were fabulous even at 50+!!! I can only imagine what they were like at 25!!!!! It was also neat to see people my son's age and my age enjoying the same sounds! They are definetly "multi-generational"!!
