I saw an exhibit at the Ellipse Art Center in Arlington, Virginia a couple years ago that featured "Bad Art". Basically, it was a collection of rather awful paintings and sculpture that had captions of "art babble" accompanying them. Here are a couple web-sites that illustrate what I'm talking about:

A friend of mine who is a fiber artist and I had a disagreement over whether these works - particularly the "congloms" or "piggyback art" should be done. (These are usually thrift store paintings that another artist has repainted, added to, or otherwise altered to make a statement.)She felt that the original painting had an integrity that shouldn't be altered and that the artist should be respected and I thought that the new work was more interesting and that the second artist usually poked fun of art traditions and "art speak" as well as the original painting. What do you artists and observers think?
