I freely admit that when it comes to using the internet, I am lame, lame, lame. I've been on-line for about 4 years, and for the most part, the internet is a medium that for me has had 4 uses:

1) bidding on eBay;
2) reading threads at AuctionWatch;
3) buying CDs from a handful of on-line stores;
4) downloading photos for use during my happy, alone time.

About a month ago I discovered a site that has crossword puzzles! I love crossword puzzles, but since it's been some years since I've worked anyplace that got the daily newspaper, I'm a little rusty. These seem to be pretty decent, however -- (I have a friend who likes puzzles but disdains crossword puzzle books -- "I find them frustrating -- I can't seem to write fast enough to fill in the answers!") -- lately my habit is to do the daily one with my morning coffee. Looks like (via the calendar at the bottom of the page) you can pull up a year's worth of puzzles.

Again, I am lame, lame, lame. Maybe everybody knows about this kinda stuff already. New to me! And for me, that utterly innovative fifth use for the internet!

hey triplesnack!

Try http://www.pogo.com - they've got crosswords puzzles, word searches, word jumbles plus a myriad of other games.

I'm mildly addicted to Word Whomp and Turbo21 myself (a girl's gotta do something in the wee small hours when everyone else is sleeping )

Enjoy!

Hi MichelleG!

Looks like the crossword puzzle is the same (the typo in the title, "Holiday Activites" leaped right out at me) but at my site the author is credited as Timothy Parker -- yours it's Thomas Schier?? I wonder what that's about?

I haven't yet delved into the other puzzles but I'm sure I'll get to that soon. I remember being WAY into the "word search" puzzles as a kid (the 70's).

It sure seems like a waste these days to buy an entire newspaper -- and then throw it out almost immediately -- just to get something like the crossword puzzle.

Speaking of wee hours -- holy cow, it's 4:00 a.m. here! Glad tomorrow's a holiday!

I used to do a crossword puzzle that marked the letters in red if they were wrong.
Loved it but I lost the url when I switched computers.
Now I go to shockwave.com and do the daily jigsaw puzzle every morning with breakfast.
They have some great word games there too you should check them out.
A friend of mine used to email me a scrabble turn every morning and we played for months, loved it.
But she got sick of loosing so she quit. (how sad is that..with my crappy word skills)
