It loads so slowly, even with a cable connection, that I just gave up waiting ...

It's going great, I'm having a ton of fun, listing a ton of stuff, and finding lots to buy. Feels like a good ol fashion neighborhood garage sale.
I'm on AOL and I do not load slow, if you are on cable and loading slow something is wrong with that totally. Have you cleared your temporary files of late.
It's quite fast for me to browse honest.
I do sign on with aol and then go to E explorer and that seems to load faster for me.
But clear my temp files all the time.
Also weekly defragment the computer, and makes for smooth faster running.
I'm full of who knows what info aren't I.

The BidVille $1-Sale is going great! Everytime I look I have more bids, and I'm also seeing counter-bids.

I rarely have trouble with BidVille being slow to upload. I find BidVille faster and cleaner than Yahoo or eBay, and I've sold on both during the past two years. Must be all those rules and accounting that slows 'em down.

Sorry, Cheerleaders...I too am on cable and have NO problems with ANY other site..

It does come up with a blank page, but after a few tries I do get the site. Just try clicking on something! You get lucky once in a while and actually get through, but most of the time you will get "this page cannot be displayed" and you can click that refresh button till you know what freezes over! Nope, not for me; and please don't talk about clearing cachets or temp files or any of that crap. Most of us really know to do that.

I'm really sorry some of you are having trouble accessing the site. I'll send a note off to BidVille and see if maybe they can see what's going on. I haven't had much trouble getting here and there--a few times of slowness but nothing real major. I'm on a dial-up connection so maybe that's part of it--looks like those with speedier access are having the most trouble.

HI Nanastuff. I have run into that problem also. What I have found though is if when I get that "cannot be displayed" message, that it is a glitch. I then click my back buton, and usually, (about 80- %) the correct page is there.
I don't know why it does this, but it does.
The sale is going great guns, with both barrels blazing. I am sure the increased traffic has caused some problems, and Cs is constantly tweaking to keep the site as optimal as possible. We are seeing many NEW sellers and BIDDERS

My computer has a 33.6k modem and I have no problems. Hahaha. Tell me what cable service you're running... I'll remember not to get that one. At work, the T1 connections works fine.

Bidville was running real slow about 2 days ago, but now it's running fine. However, even when it was slow, I still was able to access (just took me longer).

On this page can't be displayed or slow etc etc. I discovered that I needed to go to internet options under tools and then too advanced and down to the http settings and un check those. Read what it says about them and you will see some times that is the reason why.
It was only bidville I couldn't get too at the time also.

I only listed a few $1 sale items since I am soon to leave town for 10 days but I have several bids.
So I will give a big cheerleader RAH RAH to all the sites I sell on as they all seem to be picking up

I'm having a ball bidding, finding all kinds of fun things to bid on and with good pictures, proper info on shipping and terms, it's been a breeze to bid away.
I think I'm up to 8 items at the moment and it's FUN !!!!

Wow, apparently it's going better than I thought! I had nightmares of nonexistant bidding activity and sellers sitting behind their monitors, depressed, wondering "what's wrong with my listing?" or "why don't they like what I have to offer?"!

Well, I hope it ends up exceeding your highest expectations! It'll prove the naysayers like me wrong.

Hope Bidville can follow this up with some sort of advertising campaign.

It's going GREAT for me. I have had more bids on not just the things in the sale but on my other auctions as well. There have been LOTS of bids with many of them being multiple bids. Bidville just added a page jumper so that you can go directly to a page making it easier to come back to look if you get interupted and it now has a bulkloader for the priemier members (2nd testing stage -will be availiable to all withing a week or so). Come list some things and get in on the sale to see the new changes. It still has a little more than a week before it is over. Or at least come browse to see if there is anything you NEED
I have never had a problem with pages not loading. I have a dial up connection at work and DSL at home.

I think that 90% of the bids on the $1 Sale are made by other Bidville sellers. That makes it only a 'minor sucess' and in a way it points out how weak the basic system is there as the system has been running VERY slow at times.

To bidsbids:
Did you go through and count or something? What makes you assume it's mostly Sellers?
I'm a Seller and I've been too busy to even look through the $1 Sale at any length, and so I wonder where your information comes from?

All Sellers were buyers once, and who says they have to stop being buyers.
I'm buying for me, not for resale, and having a lot of fun doing it.
I think this sale is a good shot in the arm, and a lot of fun. And I'm doing a lot of time to clean house listings.
I'm also repeating but using this time to send e mails to my over 600 past customers to let them in on the sales too.
Be Happy !!!!

I just got the sale list page updated, checked through threads for anything important and my in-box has been quiet for the last 10 minutes so I finally actually have time to breathe a little bit, LOL.

This is one seller who hasn't had time to bid on hardly anything. There were a few items I have bid on and have been WAAAAYYYY outbid by people I've never seen on the message boards.

I've had e-mails from people who've never used BidVille before. Some of these folks are sellers and some are buyers. They're registering because of the sale.

I currently have bids on 16 items (some of which aren't listed in the $1-sale) and sold one item the other day with the Take It price. I'd like to get a few more listings up tomorrow but I'm not sure if I can handle that much packaging after not selling hardly anything for so long.

Honestly this is far exceeding my expectations--I am very pleasantly surprised.

Think you can work your magic over at comatose ePier when you get a chance???

I do read the message boards over at Bidville and there are a lot of posts that read "I'm spending way more than I'm making" and that type of thing. It's a real shame the powers-that-be will not spend a dime to promote their site.

Bidsbid,

well if some one is buying more than they're seller... that means somebody has to be seller more than they're buying.

I for one have not made one bid on Bidville these past few weeks, yet during the past 3 days of the sale I have closed 10-13 auctions with about 15-20 more with bids (most with at least 2-3 bids each). Many of my auctions that never even got looked at are getting won at the "Take it" Price. That's pretty good to me!!!

All but 2 of my bidders over the last 2 weeks were buyers that never won items from me before at Bidville. 1 of them was someone who came over to Bidville after I let them know I moved my auctions. All of the others were new to Bidville.
With as good as the deals are how can ANYONE resist bidding? I have always bid on things that I wanted at the auction I sell at unless I couldn't find it there. I see no problem with sellers buying. I don't get it.... where is the problem?

I've bid on a few things. I just signed up earlier to participate too. Only have a few items listed though.

I did have a couple auctions end on ebay this week. In my e-mail I placed a short plug for the dollar sale. Just hope I can help some sellers over there get some business, maybe myself too.

All but one of my sales have gone to new people with 0 feedback, so I doubt that they are sellers.

To bidsbids and others who paint with a broad brush.
I've been reading your prognostications regarding who the bidders are on bidville for several months now. Your projections that is is only sellers who are buying doesn't pass the logic test. While there may be some independantly wealthy sellers who could sustain a buying spree of several months, I feel quite confident that there are more sellers who have limited fun monies to spend each month and therefore would be unable to sustain a several month buying spree. I suggest that you jump over to bidville and check out whose spending the money during the $1-Sale. While some sellers may be participating (I am for one) I think with little effort you will find many bidders with a "0" behind their name whick indicates that they have NO FEEDBACK and one might just might infer that they are new to Bidville. I'm just tickled to death that they have come. What's the saying "if you build it they will come". We'll the sellers that have been at Bidville have put in many dedicated hours to build the site up to where we are now. Why?? Because we've found it to be a super place to spend our time and effort. We appreciate one another and have the common goal to see it grow. Now if you all wish to sit back and wait until we charter members get it up to the standard you seem to think it should be before you will come join us then go ahead. We will welcome you whenever you choose to join us.
Have a good day.

Is a $1 Sale a real indicator of "new buyers flocking to your site" ? Have you ever have had a space at a flea market and put out a "Quarter Box" to generate some buyers and get rid of some junk? Saddly, the people that scrounge through those quater boxes are usually not going to buy that $10 item on your table. A lot of your quarter box items often end up on other seller's tables with a $1 price sticker on it. Just something to think about ... now I await the "Attack of the Bidville Cheerleader Squad" to assail my analogy ....

Bidsbids, exactly what it's doing getting people to my spot....
I have been sending out e mails to old customers and am seeing several of them taking advantage of the sales I'm offering, which I know are lost leaders. But also 99 percent of the bidders are 0 fb bidders, meaning to me new blood coming in to look.
Not sellers new people...
I will always put out the 25 cent box if I can when selling, to have them look at all the items.
We all know if you put a doll worth 200 and more on auction at 200 bucks you aren't even going to get a looker. but if I put a 25 look and reserve at least I'm gong to get lookers.
It's all going to take time, It toooooook a long TIME on Yahoo a long time...
So I expect it to happen on Bidville.
I'm blowing a horn for them, but they have been the most pleasant site I have tried since before January of this year, and will give them full support, including paying for gallery fees, cheap at the price any time.
Well off my soap box, and hope I didn't bore anybody.

"It took Yahoo a loooong time" ... and that was with a tens of milions of registered users and considerable advertizing. Emailing past buyers (spam) and holding $1 sales can only bring in a mere handful of new buyers at best. Bidvile is ready for a toe tag ....
