If you use bidville as a "garage sale" you can not go wrong. There are no fees what-so-ever, so listing that item you paid .50 for at $1.00 makes sense. If you are looking for hard to find collectables they are not there yet but hopefully will come in the future. So it is hard to complain about something that is free. If they started charging all the "cheerleaders" would go elsewhere..

Makes sense how so? So you pay 50¢ for an item at lets say a yard sale, getting around from yardie to yardie requires a car, & gas, which you pay for, then once home you factor in the time to capture an image of the item, scanner, Snappy, digital camera, whatever. You have to fiddle around with lighting & other visual elements, then it's on to the Photoshop or Paint Shop Pro or whatever to crop, optimize or otherwise adjust the image. Then you upload your image to whoever is hosting your pics. Then you list, takes time to complete a listing too, especially if you get at all fancy.
Now the item sells, for $1.00, your opening price (not much chance of bidding wars on smaller sites)-- now you take the time to contact the winning bidder, deal with payment, box up his/her item, wrap it, put postage on it, drive to the post office and mail it.
Doesn't that seem an inordinate amount of work for a piddly 50¢?

Most "sellers" over there do not make a living at this so if they want to spend the time to list, so what? It is their life..

Thank you, Relay.
wlas(whatever your name is) I happen to sell and make a very nice profit on my items. No, it does not support my family, nor do I do it for "fun". I think you are way off base in describing the average BidVille seller. But then after reading some of your posts, I am not suprised, either.
RAH, RAH!
MODERATOR:
If my thread was cancelled due to the large amount of threads regarding BidVille, then I certainly think this one should be locked as well.

You may want to put away the pom-poms and go read the boards on bidville. This is exactly what most people are doing/selling. So you disagree with me and think bidville should charge a fee? If it is free why do you concern yourself with what others do with their time?
Please remember that the AuctionWatch Community Guidelines require that you treat your fellow members with respect and consideration. Your comment to wlaschin violates those guidelines. To continue posting in like manner could place your posting privileges in jeopardy.
Those that understand the significance of a normal distribution curve know that the overwhelming majority of auction sellers are at or near the average (median), and that one-half of auction sellers outperform while the one-half of auction sellers underperform the average (median).
While a few are telling us about their wonderful sales here at AuctionWatch, one need only survey the boards "over there" to find alot more auction sellers reporting they have few pageviewers and even fewer bidders.

I sell new collectibles at BidVille.
It seems as though you are attempting to once again 'generalize' about BidVille. I find this thread insulting and it serves no purpose other than to slander BidVille and it's Seller's.
To the Moderator: I personally felt (until now) that no favortism was being shown to certain individuals at AW. I stated as much more than once in BidVille threads. The fact that this thread was allowed when BidVille Seller threads were closed has made me rethink my position about the 'fairness' at AuctionWatch. Apparently, it really is who you know.

wlaschin...
CAN YOU PROVE THIS STATEMENT?
"If you are looking for hard to find collectables they are not there yet but hopefully will come in the future."
You are stating as fact that BidVille has no hard to find collectibles. It's not true therefore it is slanderous. Unless you looked at nearly 700,000 listings you cannot without doubt make that statement, can you?
OR THIS ONE?
"If they started charging all the "cheerleaders" would go elsewhere.."
I am considered a cheerleader I believe. Your statement is offensive to me. I paid and paid and paid at Yahoo and eBay. They lost my money due to poor management. I have no intention of making another site my auction home. If and when BidVille charges I am going no where. So... again you assume and generalize.
If you want to be a slave to the big guys, be my guest. I choose not to be. Been there done that.
and BTW dim... your figures were wrong (as usual) when you so boldly decided to include my personal auctions in your 'numbers' game without my permission.
You should be more careful. You could get sued or something.

From what I have seen you are not one much for averaging anything numerical dim. What a great idea for you to move on to English!

That comment is somewhat interesting because I've presented nothing numerical in this thread. Rather, I merely referred to Bidville's own reported average sell-through rate, which I assume you are now disputing as well, and the definition of the word average.

I don't even look at your numbers dim. Do you think I'm alone?
The topic of this thread is highly offensive. I do not feel respected, but alas I am only an AVERAGE member of AW.... Apparently you have to be one of the BidVille Bashers to get some intervention. Oh wait.. was I supposed to run to them and report this insulting thread? Sorry... I'm not a whiney baby so I won't play that way.
You guys have fun bashin BV.

PS. To readers of this thread who have a mind of their own I'd like to invite you to visit BidVille to make your own determinations. Have a great evening!

OH! I forgot to tell you... I posted in the eBay threads. I know you never even look there (you're far too busy slammin BidVille) so I'm giving you a headsup!
I use (and like bidville) the hard to find items I collect are not there yet (mego's for one). I still am having a hard time seeing how you take this as "bashing". I have looked at your items and find it hard to beleive you would pay .30 to list these items elsewhere ( I have teenie beanies lisrted for $1.00 and would NOT pay .30 to list them). Bidville serves a purpose and as more people move their items will come with them...
