BV = hopelessness, chaos, Exxon Valdez with Capt Hazelwood at the helm with a near-empty bottle of Scotch ...
Carnaby = hope, excellent setup and business plan, advertizing plans & cc verification.
eBay = only traffic site, a former all-powerful Ma Bell monopoly attitude
Yahoo = similar to BV but with a crazy guy at the helm of Titanic instead of Exxon Valez

Well I took advantage of eBay Canada's free listing day yesterday. Sold 10 items within hours with the Buy It Now feature and was able to relist 9 of them again for free (I had more than one of each).
As I have said before, I was doing well on Yahoo until the summer hit (normal for my type of item).
I am always amazed that so many posters waste time posting negativity when they could be listing auctions. If one site doesn't work for you, stop wasting time there and try another site or try something else (heck, try setting up a web site and PROMOTE it). And, don't accept on faith that a auction site won't work for YOU just because someone ELSE says that it hasn't worked for them.
