I just had the following email, and don't know what to make of it. There are 2 files to open, which I am not about to do!! Too many viruses out there.
"Is there another way to purchase the animal pattern book on the BidVille auction other than placing a bid? This information contained in the following electronic mail message is
attorney privileged and confidential information intended only for the use of the individual or entity named. If the reader of the
message is not the intended recipient, you are hereby notified that any dissemination, distribution or copying of this
communication is strictly prohibited. If you have received this communication in error, please immediately notify us by telephone" etc. I don't know why anyone who wanted an item would not just bid. Any suggestions?

Quite possibly they are emailing from work and work in a legal capacity, therefore they have that long disclaimer on the email. I've seen those before on emails from friends who work in a legal department.
As far as question & attachments, I would ignore the attachments and if you don't want to sell off auction, just say no and be on your way. Some people just don't want to bid for whatever reason.

Possibly Jim, but I cannot even access the listings anymore. When I go to Bidville, I can access the home page only. If I try to access any listings or the message centre, I get the dreaded "sorry, but you're Buzzoon and we don't like you so you can't play here anymore" type of message (actually it does say something like my priviledges have been suspended).

Thanks for the clarification, I hadn't realized that you could not even see the listings. Well, so much for that thought then. HMMM... Tis a puzzlement.

How can that be possible? I'm not a member of Bidville yet I can browse all the listings---- I just went there to check. Are you signing in first? Try clearing your temp files & history, then go back & see if you can browse (without signing in). If you get the same message, that would concern me greatly if it were me.....

Relayerone ... I am guessing that Bidville has come up with a way to block my PC's address, not my ID. I know that some sites are able to do this.
It's not worth it for me to figure out how to get around this. As far as I am concerned, Bidville is history. "He" had a vendetta against me and I'd just as soon let him win. The atmosphere at Carnaby is much nicer
The legal "disclaimer" is part of many company email systems and goes out with all emails sent...
RB,
Bidville is not that smart. I got that message when I tried to log on to trackpal. It prevented me from "seeing the site". I emptied my cache and my temp internet files and I now have no problems. Just checked into the "park" to see if all was well (it is not).

Not sure about how smart "He" is (there is no "they" over there), but I am able to browse the listings from my work PC ... just not this one.
Isn't it strange how the "park" can still be in a stir after the inquisition ... maybe "He" didn't inquise enough

Wlaschin, I don't see how you can make that statement, unless you expect to see something akin to Sesame Street there.???
Thanks again for the game. I just read the boards, you may want to take off the "rose colored glasses". Lot of fighting (maybe it is all the inbreading). Maybe things will pick up. I expect bidvilles sell rate to go through the roof here real soon.
I do not expect "something akin to Sesame Street". I do expect the rules(?) to be enforced across the board. Sadly they are not. I am still at a loss as to why I got the boot. ...

To get this thread back on track...
I ignore any email that arrives with an attachment I wasn't expecting. Amber, your email asking a question about one of your auctions just sounds like a ruse to get you to open those files.

If that's the case, then it would appear as though someone is purposely out to get amber (assuming she has an animal pattern book listed). Most of the attachment type virus things are sent out at random or follow some kind of pattern (eg. they attach themselves to a victm's address book and everyone in that book gets one).
In amber's case, the villian would have to know what she has listed ... not random at all.
Amber - have you reported this to "Him"? It'll probably go unanswered, but you should at least get it on record.

RB,
Have your cleared all of your cookies? I do not think he would block an entire ISP. Clean the cookies and see if you can browse.
Wlaschin,
When people act like elementary school kids calling names, I am not surprised by the outcome. I think that type of behavior is very tacky and immature!
My statements are not directed at anyone (in particular), but if the shoe fits....

He deichen ...
I clear my cookies (Gawd ... sounds like a term I used to use about an hour after I got into Dad's scotch!) every day. I haven't got the impetus to even try looking at BV anymore ... that site is so messed up with twisted people that I it just depresses me

Thanks for all the responses. I did let Bidville know, and got a quick reponse. I replied to the original message asking that they send the auction # as I don't open files, just to see if I would get a response, and as you might expect, in 3 days, NOTHING. I think you are right in saying that someone wants me to open those files, the fact that there are 2 for I picture auction has me very wary anyway. We don't open any files, but ask people to copy and paste them, we've has too many problems. I guess as they didn't get what they wanted, I won't hear from them again.

Hi Amber ...
You may want to change your registration at Bidville to a Hotmail email account. Hotmail will automatically do a virus check on all attachments. If a virus is found, the attachment won't open and you will see a warning. They use McCaffee (sp?) virus software which is state-of-the-art.
