Quick peak out wasn't it.
You don't advertise, they won't come.

nobidding.com had a lot of prizes and prize points and such and when they folded they left the prize point holders holding the bag. That site had an owner/founder that didn't care about those prize points or their holders but history will probably repeat not itself if something happens to Carneybay, I hope.

Didn't nobidding.com evolve into bidville?

Yup, and there was a lot of former nobiding.com members there on the "Other Internet Auctions" board constantly asking the CEO about the prize program. They finally gave up.

I'm listing at Carnaby, not because I'm convinced that they will be the " Big One" but because I want to support alternative sites and I like the approach they are taking.

Their listing program "Max" is clearly explained as to be in a test drive period and has acknowledged bugs.

I created some batches of listings and lost them when I had to re-install the s/w.

If you looked at my daily listings totals it would appear I've cut back on my auctions and my activity "peaked" a week ago or more.

The fact is I've had some listing problems with the s/w which I understood might happen when I offered to be a test driver.

They have identified the problem, provided a work around and will include the fix in the version to be released in late Sept.

They have offered all test drivers certain fee waivers as compensation for assisting in the testing and accepting the possible problems like I've experienced.

Now that I have re-installed the s/w and been given a work-around for the problem I was encountering, I'll be increasing the number of my open listings.

My few listings might not be signicient in the totals but to the extent other are also in the same process I've been going through the present day to day totals may not be a true reflection of what is taking place.

I would encourage people to give them a little time, wait to see what happens by late Sept. and not make final judgements until they are up and running.

If nothing else we need to give each new site every chance if we are ever going to have a strong and viable alternative marketplace.

I find it interesting bidsbids that this is the third time you have posted the copyright information taken from the first page. Is there a point that you are trying to make?

On Aug. 27 in another thread, reston_ray replied to your first post with:

"I understand, from information shared in several posts, that the time period refers back to when they first copyrighted the name and began planning the site.
I also read that they opened the site briefly about a year ago and quickly closed it down to make changes.
It only recently opened again and they are still in a "test drive" period for their listing program."

From what I understand, his reply was accurate. Did you perhaps not read it?

As the holder of a copyright on a product of my own, I can tell you that before you begin work on any project, you obtain the copyright. Thus, a copyright can easily be dated long before the introduction of the project to the marketplace.

Bidsbids: Methinks thou dost protest too much!

I think in your heart of hearts you really want to see the Carnaby site succeed but deep down inside you are afraid that it won't, just like so many other wannabes that have tried and failed in the past.

You are right to be skeptical. And I think you are an astute person, as you are certainly keeping a close eye both on what is being said, and what is happening at Carnaby.

As my grandpappie used to say: TTT

(Things Take Time)

I heartily encourage you to keep a close watch on what is happening over at Carnaby. Honest criticism never hurt anyone or anything, and a healthy does of skepticism is a good thing. Makes all concerned keep their eyes wide open and on their toes, which is not a bad thing after all is said and done.

As for myself - I like the site a lot. It is still in its infancy, so I too, will keep a very close eye on what is happening there.

Bidsbids: In light of the horrible happenings of the day, I would have a lot more respect for you if you would just give this repeated posting of listing numbers at Carnaby a break for now. This is starting to become obnoxious!

Janandpals,

Twice a month seems sufficient for now, though I will be much more interested in the stats when Carnaby gets around to providing the numbers needed to determine the sell-through rate or decides to provide the sell-through rates themselves.
