Greetings,

Thanks for your inquiry about BidBay.com's listing fees. Currently we do
not charge any fees for listing and selling on this site. Sometime in the
future we plan to begin charging a nominal basic listing fee and fees for
enhancements to a basic listing, but we do not have any plans to charge a
final value fee or any other type of commission.

As per the BidBay User Agreement, notice of fees will be posted on the web
site at lease 30 days before the fees go into effect.

For future reference, you might want to copy this link to our fee schedule
since this is where we will post listing fees when (and if) we do start
charging:

Too bad I don't mind paying a percentage if I sell the item to but pay a listing fee no mater what is not a good idea.

I had started out doin ok on Bidbay but have not sold anything in weeks, not even over the holidays.

It does not seem worth it to pay a fee to list on a site that where nothing is selling.

Are you going to charge ALL the members?
BOTH of them?

Can't afford to risk loosing either one.

Because then, who would accept all the
BidBay funny money from the other one?

Ya know jokester, I like ebay!

I like ebay circa 1997.

I like ebay before all the whiners, and cryers started making other peoples business's and lives THEIR business.

I liked ebay when you weren't put out of bussiness because a competitor snitched to ebay from many different alias's about some minor infraction, such as posting in a "wrong catagory".

Hell, there WAS no wrong catagory...post anywhere!

I liked ebay when bidders paid, and when you were NARU, it was only AFTER they contacted you to try and work things out.

I like ebay back when fee's were low, and sales were high.

When Pierre was accessable, and running things.

Before the VeROs and PowerSellers, and Voices, Net Rats, and stockholders.

I like ebay when "I" was important to them, and "I" helped to build them.

When a REAL person answered my emails.

When you could sell ANYTHING without some boob complaining that it was "Politically Incorrect"

Back when bidders trusted sellers, and with good cause, because buyers and sellers treated each other with decency, fairness, and trustwortheyness.

Back when you paid only with a money-order or check, and shipped exactly the item you advertised.

Back when I didn't need to hang my head in shame when telling people that I was selling on ebay.

That's what I like. That's the site I wanna sell at.

Give me THAT jokester, and I'll come running to your site.

Think I'd be running right behind you, unfortunately, it will never be the same, ever again. Great post.

I use BidBay now, (not eBay, to many lies), to each their own. Happy trading.

go check out BIDBAY.

http://www2.bidbay.com/

Their auction site is a combination of yahoo and ebay functions rolled into one.

It is all FREE as of present...even the
1.BOLD LISTINGS
2.FEATURED LISTINGS
3.BANNER UNDER THE TITLE
4.BUY NOW feature.
5.auto re-list as many times as you want.

I like what I see. There also seems to be buyers and they are being aggressive to attracting more buyers to the site.

The only negative I see is a post management feature. There isn't one and I don't know of a management site that supports their auction. If you know of one...please let me know!!

Oh definately a YES!! For all those from Yahoo who are running over to Bidbay for the freebies, there will come a time when you will WISH Bidbay was an automated, impersonal sight like Yahoo. Bidbay is more political than Washington. The only ones who survive there are the ones that stay off the chat boards or have VERY brown noses!

My,

I see that the Bidbay NARU is continuing posting downright lies. Typical anonymous coward activity.

Anyway nothing has ever been set into stone concerning listing fees at Bidbay. They have been discussed but do to the fact of Yahoo sellers flooding to Bidbay because of the new listing fees, it is my belief that listing fees will not happen at Bidbay.

well well coolvette ! So glad to see you slummin'! I thought you said this was a basement! I feel I must correct you though as I am a registered user over at BingBay! Just not in this name. I think you are right about the Bingbay fees, they will be postponed to snag alot of the yahoo defectors and then the REEL 'EM in will begin!! I was just going by what happened to me. I, like many others, got an email invoice! When we all questioned it on the boards, we were told "please bear with us until we get this perfected". So that told me they were gettin' ready! Vroom Vroom ! We can always count on COOLVETTE!! Vroom Vroom!!!!
(Don't cha wonder now who I am?)
Don't cha mean "Due" to ? I was also referring to the atmosphere over at BingBay, rather than the fees, but thank you for setting us straight! Vroom Vroom!!

I don't know much about bidbay. Do they even advertise? I just signed up now, will post a few auctions to learn the ropes, see if it has potential, and hopefully get a rating. It doesn't look like fees would be logical at this point. I'd pay them if bidding activety is strong.

My only question is this:

Why do you continue to frequent a site of which you harbor ill feelings?

Don't let the door hit 'cha where the good lord split 'cha!

Everyone,

Cut it out with the sarcasm and personal remarks. If this thread continues to be unproductive, I'm going to lock it.

barbiesadoll,

Your comment: "Don't let the door hit 'cha where the good lord split 'cha!" is rude and a violation of the CGs. I am issuing you an informal warning.

Your rejoinder does nothing to improve this thread. Please remember to address the topic, not the individual.

Thank you Pat for your constant unbiased monitoring and I mean that sincerely, not sarcastically. You could teach Bidbay a whole lot about monitoring.

Thank you for the informal warning, Pat.

SEABHS,

I do not come here to cause trouble and insult others, as you so rudely stated in the moderator's corner. Just as you and others come here to post your negative comments about BidBay, I come to post my positive comments concerning them. Is that so wrong? Or is it okay for you to bash them, but a different set of rules for me when I defend them? I thought so...double standard is a better word for that, I believe.

In any case, I do not believe BidBay will be implementing any type of fees in the near future; however, one must realize that a site can not continue to be free of charge indefinitely. Is that expecting so much from a site that has been free for one year and is still offering its services at no charge?

SEABHS,

As usual, you missed the entire point. I feel nothing else I can say to you will be productive, so I am closing my thoughts on this issue.

Good evening to you, MAM!

Yes BidBay is going to charge eventually. They have to. They are in the business of making money.

I do not hold this against them one bit.

But it's a double edged sword.

They cannot continue to give away all of the neato prizes (corvette, jetski, diamond ring, sony mavica cameras etc) and stay in business without charging something. I've wondered how they've been able to do it so far.

Once again I commend GT and his efforts, but the simple fact is it cannot go on much longer.

There are few cash sales at BidBay. The contests have not done what they had hoped. The bidders are not there...except for the ones holding BidBay Bucks. Now the time is going to come to start charging or shut down....guess what? I guarantee you there's not a single seller there willing to pay the fees.

Not even their biggest cheerleader..the almighty blonde one.

Fees cannot be supported there. They just do not have the real numbers to back it up...and by real numbers...cash bidders.

So the simple fact is BidBay has locked in their ultimate destination...and that's in court filing chapter 11.

But some good things to say about BidBay. There are great people there...members and staff.

George the CEO is extremely accessible even to thorns in his side like me.
